Seems like Lee likes to make busts this is the third one isn't it? The Demon was first right? Then that Dracula bust and now this. Not taking anything away but it would be nice if he could be a bit more creative with his special gifts for DX's.

Amstel,

I couldn't agree more. I just read this entire thread before basically making the same comment. One of my favorite things about Lee's work is the incredible accessories. This shift to the busts is just sort of weird to me. They are beautifully rendered and this Hitchcock one looks to be the best yet, but for someone like myself who is usually semi-recreating a scene from the character's film or whatever, I don't even really know what to do with the busts.

A 1/6 scale 'stuffed' bird wouldn't amount to much of a 'special item' though, would it? Also, I don't think there's been any indication of what accessories Norman will be coming with yet. Obviously a knife's a given, but apart from that there isn't really that much to choose from.

The only problem I have with the bust idea for this particular set is that RM has missed a trick by sculpting Hitchcock instead of Janet Leigh. No doubt about it, Hitchcock was a master and is deserving of such treatment, but that one image of Leigh screaming her lungs out in the shower is not only the most iconic and powerful image from the movie, but a contender for the most iconic and instantly recognisable image in cinematic history. No hyperbole involved.

It's perfect for the bust treatment and (pardon the pun) just screams 'Psycho':

I'm with you guys on the bust situation. I do agree with 'sixtimes though; because of the nature of Pazuzu's appearance on screen, it was a perfect approach for him and a great looking piece. When it comes to Dracula, the Wolfman is cool and I'll be glad to own and display it, but I personally would've preferred the lantern and another set of hands, Mina's picture, or something else 1/6. I don't think Lee realized it in the past but I believe it was with Plainview, many of us let him know that most collectors would rather something in 1/6 that can be used with the figure, be it an accessory or whatever, as opposed to things like busts, key chains or 1:1 items.

This is a pretty accessory light character and Hitchcock is definitely one of, if not the most iconic directors, so I understand the choice. The intros to Hitchcock Presents, the silhouette, the profile... all extremely iconic imagery, but again I'm with 'sixtimes and agree that if it had to be a bust, a better choice would've been a screaming Janet Leigh. ABSOLUTELY one of the most iconic stills in cinema history.

... That's if it had to be a bust. I actually really like Angie's idea too about the stuffed birds. I feel they were used as foreshadowing for Mother and served as part of the awkward creepiness of his encounter with Marion. I can envision Norman, mother and 2 birds looking great on display, and better than throwing it a bit off scale with the Hitchcock bust

I agree on one thing, a bust do look nice with the set up but it depends on what set that is. The demon bust is the only thing that makes sense because like you said Pazuzu's face was only shown in the film. But...Dracula?? Nah. Lee should have offered more accessories. Let's look at this pictures-

This one? Does not blend in well together with the bust. That stood apart. AND I still wish Lee would have done the gold robe (Gustav Klimt) instead the red one. Red robe has been done before. Overall the figure still look great just not a WOW factor for me.

But this one? That's not too bad. This set up look classy and clean to me. The figure itself looks amazing. The figure is a WOW factor.

I still stress on "offering more accessories".

Birds are everywhere in the movie, there's birds in pictures, on walls, everywhere. Birds of prey, crows etc. Very foreboding.

Yes! "Very foreboding" is the correct description!! That was what I wondered...why weren't the birds included as accessories? That would be eye popping on the shelf with a screaming Janet Leigh bust. So Psycho like.

With them feet it's no wonder Mother walked all over Norman.

Hope 'the chair' is going to become the 'rocking chair':

Actually, maybe somebody can help me out? Was the chair used in the promo shots (like the one above) a different one from that used in the finale of the film? It's been a fair few years since I last saw it (Psycho 2 is actually one of my 'guilty pleasure' movies and I've probably watched that way more times than the original. :naughty) but I don't remember the back of the chair being so high when Vera Miles creeps toward it?

'Mother' is looking great from the glimpses we've been given so far, but that's no real surprise. It's Norman who is going to be the deal breaker for me though and the one whose likeness I'm eager to see if RM can nail.

Perkins...when young...was a pretty plain, nondescript, looking guy. It was one of the reasons he was picked for the role. If the likeness isn't sufficiently there he could end up just looking like some random guy from one of those 60's tv commercial where they tried to convince people that chain smoking 37 tabs a day was good clean fun for the entire family, kept your body in tip-top physical condition and guaranteed you could get any woman in the world out of her blouse in sixty seconds flat just by blowing s**t-loads of smoke in her face.
