I'm very surprised at your change of heart on some of these matters. You of all people were big on the whole limited edition aspect for all of this. I remember not too long ago you were at odds with Leon because he thought people who spent $3,000 on a Bill were stupid and you happened to be one of those people who bought Bill in the aftermarket. Do you remember that?
Your talking about more options in the hobby and that's fine. I'm talking about how everyone is using the same resources to get their project done and how that potentially can cause an issue for future Rainman projects because it happens to be a resource (Yunsil) that's an important component of his products.
It's like Rainman has a formula that's works for him. Everything is on par from the sculpting to the tailoring, so the outcome is a great product that holds up. Now I see it as his formula is being hijacked but not being used in the best possible way. So the question is; do these commissions mean that Rainman will have to pass on doing certain characters because the clothing has already been done? And if that's the case, is it worth it to sacrifice some of the more popular characters in favor of these small petty runs.
I've never bought a head & clothing set from Rainman only DX and Full sets. Does he issue COA's for those options? Now what happens if he decides to do a run of clothing that has already been done.....what significance is the COA going to have?
Yeah man muscians are such an untapped market.
Leon, I'm going to see if Dave can somehow let me rep you 5 times in this thread, He's gonna say no, but I'm gonna ask
I have zero interest in musicians but I would love to see them made! I think the demand would be huge for some of the greats.

Yeah I'd like for Rainman to tackle more westerns, his gun accessories are great.

Very well thought out. So I see you have been saving up your thoughts while you were on sabattical.:faqMy stance really hasn't changed much. I still do care about collectability, market value and all of that. I'm just not as tight about it as you are. I mean that whole thing with the ordering system for Torrance? Big f'n deal man. What's the worst that was going to happen? The handful of people who would have struck out plus a few new guys actually get in??? So maybe 10-15 more sets (IF THAT) get produced than usual?? All of that 100/200 sets and so on is crazy talk. The pricey custom market is by FAR the tiniest sect of the community. There are easily 10X the amount of boardies here ready to talk s__t and make fun of us for spending that kind of money, than people who are actually willing to spend that kind of money. Letting a few more people in really won't sway anything I'm concerned about too drastically, so I'd like to see those handful of folks enjoy with the rest of us instead of getting left in the cold.
But again, mostly my ideas are the same. I don't like reissues of full sets, I don't think that Yunsil should re-do things that she already made for RM. I would like to see artist maintain respect for each other’s work (like how it used to be) and try to do things differently from each other, but there are so many more people offering sculpts and outfits now, that it's hard to keep those barriers. If the same characters are popular enough and several people are going to tackle them, I'd hope that they would be mindful and courteous enough to both other artists and collectors, to put a different spin on it.
You standpoint is based on the fact that you ONLY collect RM and Beto, and that puts you in the vast minority of an already super small community. Most people here don't think that way because they collect licensed stuff, stuff from other artists, bash figs and so on. They're open to other options so they're not as concerned with putting the world of custom creators in shackles, while we wait to see if RM will do something or not before they get the green light. I get what you're saying because there has been talk of a Raoul Duke fig and I honestly want to see it touched by The Man (and YES, to the FULLEST. Please don't give me that "keep it simple crap"), but what could be done? There are a lot of people creating right now and the world doesn't halt for Rainman
And what you’re talking about with Leon and I is a completely different issue all together which goes back to the nonbelievers I mentioned. You know that there were always plenty of people to come around talking s__t, and every time they invaded these threads shooting at us, I shot back. I still feel the same way and that won't change. Maybe some people genuinely can't fathom the custom prices and are compelled to share they're malcontent, but 9/10 times it sounds like sour grapes to me and that's f__king lame. I respect the people who are big enough to say "wow that looks amazing! Fantastic piece but it's out of my budget. Congrats to those who are getting one!" as opposed to bashing both us and the product. (And on a side note, I think Leon has come around since then :wink1
Yes, please. Once Upon A Time in the West, the Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, High Noon, the Magnificent Seven, the Wild Bunch, the Professionals, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, lots of great, classic westerns that I would love to see Rainman go after.
