Rainman wishlist thread

I'm only bringing it up because it seems like a serious contender for his next project. :dunno

:duff It's all good, just saying bringing up those types of things could open up a Pandora's box of issues, even though I believe Rainmans work is made in such low numbers that it qualifies as art appropriation. I believe he's good to go on any of these characters. I hope that Macready is next because he's in a artistic mood lately of doing busts and it would be epic to see him do the Thing monster and crab.

Someone explain to me where all of this passion for the Fear and Loathing characters comes from.

I mean, it was an ok movie.....I guess? Pretty limited fanbase as far as I can tell and definitely a flop commercially. Do people love Raoul Duke/Hunter Thompson that much?

Even logistically it would be a goofy figure that would need rubber sheathing on the limbs or you'd be left with all of the awful joints showing.

I know that the man does what he wants and if this is what the fans are clamoring for then it's a double win I guess, I just don't get it.

Because I used to do a lot drugs. :wink1: The character (was) extremely relatable to me...back in the day anyways. I think it's the only movie I've seen that comes close to reproducing the visuals and feeling of tripping. It's also hilarious IMO.

My take on it is why would you want a figure of Johhny Depp as Hunter Thompson when Hunter Thompson was super rad and the real deal! It's like another project that's doing Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger.....what ? :lol


It would be cool to see Rainman do a warped sculpt as a the DX extra if he gets to do it eventually. Probably the only way I'd buy the figure. I just keep cringing at Depp as Hunter Thompson. There's only one Hunter, but then again they were very good friends and Hunter gave him his blessing for that portrayal. I guess it's Depp that bothers me the most, lol. Only Edward Scissorhands gets the ok.

R.J Macready though........:horror. Gotta have a Kurt Russell on the shelves and the THING is CULT CLASSIC.

Cult classic. Represents hunter s. Thompson. Amazing movie. Amazing book, true story, hardcore journalism, the creation of gonzo... If you didnt enjoy the movie or book you either have never done / or are against drugs or you missed the point of what they're all about. Its about the drowning american dream. Vegas brought out some of hunters truest writing. Depp was very good friends with him and if u say bill murray did a better job you really should compare them again. Depp was phenomenal... buy the criterion blu ray, sit back, and enjoy the masterpiece. The movie is seriously amazingly shot, blessed with the solid acting of both depp and benicio, its a true story, and would be a constant representation of hunter. Ralph Steadman is also one of my favorite artists so i could also display one of his pieces with it.


Anyways.. cult classics is what rainman should veer back towards. Movies that arent for everyone but hold a special place for a group of the people in the know. Theres still more characters to do but FALILV is definitely at the top of the should be done list to complete his arsenal of cults. Didnt do well at the box office? Are we really worrying about that in a rainman thread??? lol

Fear and Loathing is yawn in my book, The Thing is a Cult Classic and MacReady is badass. That movie is just so amazing, from the awesome suspense and storytelling, creature design and setting. The ending is great and I just love the constant suspicion going on between everyone, it's one of my favorite movies. Rainman would do amazing accessories. Plus Kurt Russell is the man. Tarantino's new movie Hateful Eight seems to be of the same type of scenario. All these people trapped in one single location and suspicion of one another is running high, just makes for great viewing.

Well said, my favourite Johnny Depp performance.

Duke would look fantastic in 1/6 form, I know quite a few people have been calling for him to get made so it's about time.

I'm patient, I can wait through Macready...
although he has already been done before, and is being done as we speak again by a licensor... and to be totally honest, to me does not at ALL seem like a Rainman release. Shouldn't Lee be tackling original releases that no ones done before?
Either way, I'm fine with. Im not shooting down macready, but i hope you guys dont shoot down fear and loathing just cause it doesnt strike ur interest.
its been wanted for a long time from the sounds of it, and would be one of the most striking and original pieces in 1/6 with accessories and posing options that far surpass most if any releases.
