When Mark will be able to do this?I've asked him about one other sculpt, but he told me he's booked for 8-10 weeks.

I got the tie material. I did three different colour variations.
I printed it on both a poly "silk" crepe and on cotton poplin (which has weave like that of most silk ties). As I anticipated the crepe print is fuzzier. In terms of colour, the poplin looks best by far, but the crepe is more accurate in terms of sheen and softness.
Personally I would go with the poplin and explore spraying something on the finished tie to give it a slight sheen. I will make up a tie in each. I was thinking of send a finished tie to one of the other American buyers to get their feedback.
It's nice, but I think the heads way out of proportion...
That bird looks pretty good. I think I'll just print one for myself the next time I do a 3D order.
Yes, the files can be resized. More importantly the files are vector-based, meaning they can be scaled down while preserving all the detail (unlike say, shrinking a photo in Photoshop).
The bird was just under 12 inches according to people selling the fullsize prop. Hot Toys is slightly underscaled, so I usually print out 3D objects slightly smaller than their mathematical 1:6 dimensions, more like 1:6.5.
This could be $40-50 to print at high resolution, but would be ready to be primed and painted. If people need a budget option and can live with some print lines, that can be a lot cheaper with lower-resolution companies like Shapeways or somebody could print it on a personal 3D printer. Casting it would cost money too, and then you have to deal with cleaning up the cast, etc.
I'll take a look at teh files later today and suggest some sizes. I need to finish the first prototype necktie too.
Just a quick follow up...I had time to look into a 3D printing service called sculpteo today. I uploaded the bird file, scaled it, and ordered it in black resin. They tell me it will arrive around August 5th. I will let you know how it turns out and post pics. The detail of the Maltese Falcon on the file looked great because the service allowed me to rotate it, examine it from all sides, etc...the file said it was in hi definition..cost for it was $30 plus shipping..
