If it is printed black, you could probably just paint it with an acrylic gloss and be done. I'll look to airbrush on some Future Floor Shone. Dipping it in Future would maybe work too to give it the right finish.

Why do the images look different? The top one looks to be in correct proportion and the bottom one seems off. Very short. Look at the legs...

The 3D rendering isn't perfect of course, but pretty close in my estimation..also, angles of pics are slightly different between rows as well..

Here is the first prototype of the tie. I like the quality of the print on this material, but it is very stiff and completely matte. I think i will try printing on another material or coating this material with a slight sheen. Nod to Captain Sisko, my soon to be revealed custom, in the episode "Far Beyond the Stars." He's wearing the Walternate Fringe suit.



Tie is not as long as modern ties and wide, in keeping with the actual tie:




The last photo is brighter red that i am leaning towards.

The bird came in today! Very nice detail, very good price! The 3D printing service I used is called Sculpteo. I used an Stl file of the bird that I found on the Internet and specified the size I wanted, to be printed in black resin. Very quick turnaround time as well..

I'm going to work on its coloring a bit to get its detail to stand out even better (hard to see in some pics because of its black color)...here are some pics...
