Re: Commando: John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs]

The changes will be made - not sure we 100% agree with the hair being so straight, i does curve around the top sides more than illustrated above

That being said, i do think it needs widening at the top still so i proposed this change - my edit on the right

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

Thanks again for all of your observations guys - in particular a-dev's! Me and Frank have been working almost on a pathalogic determination to get Arnie right for all true fans out there :D

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

i think we are pretty much there!

Yes to echo Sean, thanks a-dev you've really helped take it to the next level.

Thanks to you chaps for letting me pester you :D

If you don't mind though there's still stuff I'd like to investigate that would hopefully bring out more likeness. Again I would recommend keeping this latest update saved and isolated in case stuff that I will later suggest messes things up instead of improves them.

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

Some more food for thought

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

Nice work so far but still look stylized imo.
If I were you I would model this exactly like HT proto and capture all that detail and sharpness.

here are some more renders in different lighting - let me know what you think

Thanks Ray got it.

We were finalising the sculpt before adding the deeper detail and skin texture.

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

I think you're almost perfect. The only, very, very slight change I can suggest is a moderate horizontal narrowing of the gap between the nose and the upper lip, where the philtrum is. That seems a little long to me in passing glance. But otherwise this is good, and that drop in height would be very, very miniscule.

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

^^might not be a bad suggestion

Uhh, going back to the profile, sorry to be a pain in the ass guys but I don't think the latest change quite got what I was trying to do.

I was trying to put across that some hair on the back of the head be removed but instead more hair seems to have been added. The result is IMO an excessively long head from his face to the very back and too much of a Frankenstein look to the very top. In fact the previous update looks closer to what I was getting at so personally I think you should go back to that if nothing else. However the new ears are better so that complicates matters.

Also I don't think you quite managed what I was getting at with the chin and the jawline - but look, having said that, I understand it's probably one thing drawing lines in Windows Paint and quite another working with this sculpting program.

The new front view of the hair is good, I would keep that as is.

I know there are limits to how many tweaks can be made before it becomes insanity, but I think there are a lot of us out here that hope you stick with the suggestions a-dev. Obviously Sean and Frank have to be open to them and understand how to implement them. This is so close. I'm assuming that you're hoping for an ultimate Terminator sculpt since you don't seem to actually have an interest in the Commando head. It's important to me as I'm in for this, Quaid, Conan and any other variant that comes from this, especially Terminator.

Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs] ACCEPTING DEPOSITS

No I actually agree with all the changes, they seem quite minor so I will speak to Sean

I might be onto something with regard the profile and DioramaMaker's suggestion here played into it. Miniscule and yet, I hope, big.
