Hi DoggieDoc,

Do you think it is possible to make a DX Set with a black rotary phone. That way it can sit next to the red Batphone and match the series. If not, no problem. Just a thought.

Thanks.

Oh I think that is a great idea!

Alrighty as promised, I have tweaked the Shakespeare bust model a tad to have the head looking a bit more straight on. Check out the renders. I have also added modeled-in spots for the hinges, and I modified the INSIDE of the bust to better fit the electronics. If everything is looking good this will go back to print for a final test piece and then full-scale production!

As for the black phone, I could definitely consider it since it is essentially the same as my Michael Myers phone, just in black.

Hey, all... just wanted to provide an update. I know it seems like this project hit the backburner, but it really hasn't. Unfortunately I was printing the final Shakespeare bust with the updated internals and a new paint job to finish it off when I discovered that my printer was acting funny. The print had large, visible lines in it (as well as all the OTHER stuff I was printing that day... grrrr). So I contacted Formlabs and found out I need to do some maintenance on my printer before I can print again.

SO... my maintenance kit arrives HOPEFULLY this week, and I will get the work done and resume printing. I will update the thread when I am back on track, and my apologies for the delays.

Ok I think my printer is back on track! It is tied up doing Neo sunglasses lenses right now (because I had clear resin loaded up), but I will get another Shakespeare bust printed up as soon as I can.

So I have painted the newest print with a new, darker paint as suggested. Unfortunately I am having a helluva time capturing it well with my camera. I only had like 2 minutes to play with it before I had to head back to work. However, I think this is the color to use. It is definitely much darker, much less of the yellowish/gold color I originally used. It is more dark brown than these images really show, so I will see what I can do about getting better images this evening.

Any thoughts on the color despite the mediocre photos?

Does the original tv show bust have a little reddish tint to the brown? Or, more of a copper tint?

Here are images I could find. Unfortunately in some images it is lighter and darker in others. But overall I think it has a reddish-brown tint, which is meant to look bronze.

And I agree, the paint I used has a much stronger metallic finish than I was hoping for. Hmm..
