I dont know, I think Tony's current length is perfect.
They used many capes in the films, and at times, its even just cgi.
I've been going back and looking at other pics and it looks like the cape is just supposed
to be barely touching the ground.
Either way, I would like mine at the length you have now Tony if that's ok.
Here's the actual costume that was on display.
These custom capes will put this figure over the top i think. And I don't even have mine yet. :lol But the stock cape is my only gripe with this figure from all the pics that I have seen of it.
But I do like this long cape look too, LOL
I agree.
Many times, if a figure has features or inaccuracies that dont bother me, I wont bother doing the mods.
I'm all about the total representation of the figure.
But I mod a figure when it comes to things I cant overlook.
Almost all the time, the cape is something that bugs the crap out of me.
The figure can look excellent, but if the cape looks toyish or bulky, it can ruin the overall look of the figure.
The cape is a sign of majectic, it should look magnificent.
Fortunately, Tony's knows how to make capes look like 1:1 scale, it drapes naturally.
Even on day 1 when the proto was shown, I already knew I'm gonna replace it with Tony's.
I totally agree with you on these points. Cape is a big deal on Superhero, and its what make each character looks like they are beyond all. Each cape I make isn't just from any fabric store, cut a shape and sell some fabric, but the effort of measuring each custom cape, and the time of searching for the right fabric and color is what I'm very big about.
Superman cape took a very long time to make..... it may look simple, but to get it right at the feet all around it's where all the time/effort was at. not to mention the way to install it...., I'll show more pictures when my second one arrives. Also the amount of time looking thru each book and pictures from all over the place to get it right.....
future mods
- adjust the Superman chest logo
- thin out the wrist guard
- stretch the boots higher
- and flat out the neck to shoulder area
- *I love the height, so don't bother to ask me to shorten it, LOL
Exactly, that's why I'm always baffled how Hot Toys could focus so much on a lot of details.
yet, once they throw in the cape, its half-*** made.
So, really fortunate to have you here man, you're a huge asset to the forum.
I'm really curious to see the flatenning of the neck to shoulder area.
Oh, and scratch what I said above on which length I prefer...I completely trust you with these capes
so if you feel that they need to be longer...whatever size you feel looks great, then I'll have mine that length.
So if you feel it needs to be longer, then make mine longer then as well.
For those who couldn't wait for the cape-off tutorial, here is some simple verbal explanation base on my memory
1. Pull the cape up from behind, you'll see a two red stitches that stitch the cape to the body from each side, release it with exactlo knife, it will not harm the suit.
(Because the stock cape doesn't drape down very well, so to prevent the cape from looking puffy, HT sew it together manually)
2. Do the same with the center of the cape, it's stitched to the suit with red thread. Once removed carefull, it will not damage the suit at all.
3. Take the head off (just pull it up or use hair dry to soften the material)
4. Pull the cape off slowly from each side of the cape that insert to the body, it's just soft glue, little effort will release it nicely.
You got your cape off.....
You'll also notice Ht made a layer if rubber for the cape around the neck area, that is what's make the shoulder area very bulky.... I'll do some modification with it soon.
I'll show some pictures when my second one arrive.
Hope this help
Tony
So this neck mod, will it make your cape lay on his shoulders even flatter?
Really curious about this mod.
thats the goal, because that bulky neck is killing me, LOL
Definitely gonna try to emulate what you come up with, with the neck mod.
I'm the same boat, im pretty much already happy with the result of your custom cape, but if it can be flattened more
On the shoulder area, I'm definitely have to try that mod also.
The other thing I want to do...not 100% sure yet if I will, is maybe repaint the "S"...er... I meant, the hope symbol. Lol
Maybe paint it with some metallic color acrylic.
you got me excited!! might do the mod tonight......
