If there is one thing I know for certain it is that Jonas is one of the rare people and collectors in this passion of ours that is, not only, eminently trustworthy and due respect but a person that works his tail off to bring the top artisans and craftsman together to create works of art. He is not wasting his time nor attempting to make a living by fabricating bad Barbie knock offs. The effort and attention to detail. The mere logistics of communicating back and forth daily and nightly between 25 -30 people and conveying their wishes to reach the best possible result requires dedication, discipline and determination. And for what reason? To make a living. No. To make a quick buck. I think not. As anyone who has either participated in any run or conducted their own knows full well that there is nothing, absolutely nothing that is quick in either creating accessories, Head sculpts, or clothings sets. Everything, takes about 10 times longer. And Jonas and people like him who put these incredible runs together don’t ask for much. But they deserve at a bare minimum respect.
Respect doesn’t mean not to ask questions. He is always open to answering any and all queries even infantile ones. Many times I have asked him some boneheaded questions myself. And I could only imagine the aggravation that he felt. Nevertheless, he was always polite and to the point answering any and all requests that I made. For that alone, Jonas and those who put together these runs should minimally make some money for their time. I know that whatever Jonas and others make it is definitely not enough.
So, the least I can do is show respect to the man for his time, talent and patience in what sometimes must feel like herding cats.
I focus on respect as it is a cornerstone of any relationship. Be it familial or transactional. Respect creates a doorway, in which two people can communicate, founded on a base of trust. So, that when Jonas or another person managing a run answers a question or makes a statement, one knows that it is coming from a place with the best motivations at heart. Once, you know that he only wishes to create a stunning work of art then you will listen twice as hard and speak half as much nonsense.
We are all human. We all err and make mistakes. But respect is a choice. It is a beginning. An open door. Not an opportunity to make accusations not an invitation to throw tantrums.
If Jonas at some point increases the run size I trust that he will pass on the savings to everyone in the run.
Whatever choices he elects to make I trust him knowing that it is only to produce the best possible results.
People like Jonas, Doggiedoc, Robbiethepainter and so many more put these runs together not to make a living but to express a vision and to add to this community of ours, if nothing else, another color to our daily pallettes so that the dreary world make look a little bit brighter.
So, it is only proper that people do their utmost to be patient, even though I peronsally fail at that all the time, and respect the project, the collaborative vision and most importantly the person.
