Any pics of the blade? I am concerned about my ability to get a thin enough print for a proper blade tip. I was also thinking about more of an "ice pick" like attachment if the blade isn't feasible due to fragility.

Have the prototype parts coming in hopefully beginning of next week. I can't wait to see my model in reality and show it off to you guys.

Re: 1/4 scale closed umbrella w/ interchangeable tips for NECA DeVito Penguin

Looking forward to this !

Me too! I always hate waiting for the first print to come in... I want to see it in real life!!!

I had to make some VERY minor changes to the design of the bladed tip in comparison to screen accuracy in order for it to be structurally sound. However it still looks very good and shouldn't have any issues with possible breakage. I essentially designed the lower section with a hole through it where I will then place a real, metal, sharpened ice-pick like blade. Should be awesome!

Ooo nice love the sound of that.... Now only if I could find someone in the US that does good rehairs that i don't have to wait 3-6 months...

Just a quick update... first prints come this week (By Friday or Saturday, I am hoping). I will be sure to get pictures up as soon as I can. Hoping to generate a bit more interest in the project once people see what it will really look like!

Pictures! So I'm very excited about this as it is looking spectacular. Unfortunately I had a scaling issue and the prototype handle is WAY too big. I used a previously printed handle for the photos but I will rescale the proper, screen accurate curved one for the final product.

I also uses a placeholder cloth that is silver. Final product will of course be black. Ler me know what you think!

Thank you! Can't wait to get it painted up and with black cloth. I also have a few ideas of how to improve the prototype to make it potentially even cheaper, but can't promise anything write yet on that.

Thanks so much! I've had several UK buyers for my previous Devito umbrellas and I wonder if I have your video and postings to thank for that. If so, THANKS! It was so fun making those for everyone, and I'm really excited about this one as it is looking great. Can't wait to show you guys some more updates!

Id like to think so. I sent atleast 3 or 4 your way and also mentioned your spear to a fellow collector. Always happy to help a fellow collector/ freak and more importantly, someone talented that has something to offer :) your projects have been excellent so far .

Good to hear:hi5:

I was having trouble sleeping last night so, of course, I was thinking about ways to improve this piece, and I think I came up with a way to cut down on the weight of the internal skeleton of the umbrella so Penguin will have no problems holding the umbrella in any pose you wish. In turn this should keep costs a bit lower. Funny enough I have a conference to attend over the next 3 days and I won't have anything to do after about 5PM each night, so... I will be revising the 3D model so I can get this thing rolling.
