Ok, guys, I am SLOWLY but surely working on things... in between finishing the Baby Groot detonators, a couple personal commissions, and a NEW FREAKING BABY! Haha, so here's a little work I've been doing...
3D modeling some of the suitcase details/hardware, tube of toothpaste, and resizing the suitcase.

And here are a few pictures of the suitcase iterations. The first case was too big all around. The second case was a bit too fat and long. The 3rd iteration is a bit less fat and a bit shorter. It's actually been very difficult finding any sort of exact dimensions of the suitcase (particularly the width from left to right) since it isn't listed anywhere the specific suitcase model. So I've been analyzing screenshots over and over and the best I could come up with was using the Curious George book and the magazine inside as reference, plus comparing it to suitcases that are at least similar.
In one shot in the film you can see the Curious George book inside the top netting of the suitcase. This provides a pretty good reference for overall width and height of the suitcase. Shortly later he puts the feather in the book and then sets it on top of the clothes and next to the magazine on the left side. Now I COULD find the dimensions of the Curious george book (~8 x 10) and the dimensions of a typical magazine (~8 x 10 as well). When he lays the Curious George book inside it overlaps the magazine just a bit. If they are were side to side this means the suitcase should be around 16 inches wide. With a slight overlap perhaps the internal dimension is about 13-14 inches, thus the suitcase outer width I peg at around 14-15 inches, which is where I ended up modeling it.
I tried to match the angles from the screenshot and the current suitcase size iteration to show how I think it is a good fit. I have included a properly scaled stand-in for the Curious George book, haha
. If anything it the suitcase may need to be widened juuuuust a bit.. to more of a 16 inch width... let me know what you all think!
