Okay boys and girls, I have some updates! :banana

First of all, Sean has begun working on the Mathilda headsculpt! :yess:

Second, we're exploring the option of having a wig made since we're around 40 people signed up, we feel this will be better than everyone getting their heads haired individually. Also, Mathilda has the perfect hair to made into a wig honestly. He is still planning on also doing a sculpted hairpiece with the hat sculpted on that will peg into the bald sculpt. We feel these options will give all of you the most flexibility with how you want to customize your Mathilda when you display it.

Third, I want to still get more opinions on what body should be used. Sean showed me the Obitsu doll bodies and the more I look at them, the more I think they may be a much better option for Mathilda than the Star Ace Hermione body. I initially leaned toward the Hermione body due the it's size and thought since it was on the "thicker" side and not super slender like an Anime doll, it would be the best one to have the clothes tailored to, for compatibility with future teen body options. Now I'm not so sure. Below is a pic of the Obitsu, it's 23cm, or 9 inches, which is perfect. Also, one of the main benefits of it is that they are readily available and only about $15-20 each. I'm sure they aren't the best quality and Sean will have some challenges making pegs that work for the hands and boots he's sculpting, but it could be a nice, cheap, fill in until a better body comes along. If we go with the Obitsu, we could potentially offer full finished figures as well, of course I'd have to work out the details on that as far as paint and whatnot, but since the bodies are easily obtainable, it's now potentially an option at least.

I don't like that body pictured. The legs are way too long in comparison to the torso. It doesn't look human at all.

That was my initial thought too, similar to the Pureneemo bodies and others used for Anime dolls and figures. I do feel that the Star Ace Hermione body has the best realistic proportions, but it has the worst joints. I feel most will have her coat on, so the thickness of the Hermione boy's arms won't matter, but the neck/chest area would have to be addressed for sure by sculpting a new chest and neck that's one piece. People may also not really care that much and just get whatever body they want to use until a better option comes along and I could be completely overthinking this lol.

For me, the arms can be ground down and the jacket will stay on so the exposed joints are fine. And I think the knee joints look better on the H body. But neither have the correct proportions. Also that neck joint will not look good. Really needs a seamless neck/torso

Yeah, that's something Sean and I have discussed too, if the H body is used it definitely needs a whole new torso/neck that's one piece. That choker necklace she wears has to be on a good looking neck.

I definitely prefer the star ace body between those 2. Don't think we'd find better knee joints than that other than seamless. But I do agree it's a bit thick and would need a sculpted neck. I know Asmus teased an X23 fig that could have a suitable body also. Do you have the body? Would be nice to see it stood next to Leon

I prefer the Hermione body. That Obitsu body looks like it has cartoon-proportioned legs.

Thanks for the input guys, I think my frustrations with the Hermione body's neck area were making me look at that other body a little too favorably lol. The body that will be used for the X-23 will be a modified version of the current teen body (less muscular chest piece, BUT now a two piece neck like the Hermione body). I wasn't a fan of the Asmus body after having the John Connor in hand, felt a bit loose and cheap. All things with those two being nearly equal, I give the edge to the Star Ace body because it feels solid and well made. With that said, people can of course use an Asmus body as a cheap alternative (I think they're like $45) until a better option becomes available. I'm planning on making one last, more formal attempt at securing some Hermione bodies direct from Star Ace, at least then I can say I tried my best. When I asked before it was just a message through FB, so I think this time I'll send an email and perhaps even a typed up letter. Doesn't hurt to try.

I have managed to find three Hermione bodies at decent prices, so I definitely have an invested interest in using that one at this point anyway.

I'll have my third Hermione body in a few days, the other two are with Sean and Toribox atm. When I get her I'll snap a pic beside Leon, the height is exactly where it needs to be for film accuracy.

For anyone that missed the update yesterday, Sean has started the Mathilda sculpt and is shooting for it to be finished by the end of the month. Since we're over 40 interested in it, we're also going to look into getting a wig made for the sculpt, as well as have a sculpted hair and sculpted hair with hat option, for those that prefer it that way.

Please post in here what version(s) of sculpt you would buy for sure (assuming the likeness, quality, etc. are top notch)

A. Haired w/knitted hat (wig attached to bald sculpt)

B. Sculpted Hair (pegs into the bald sculpt)

C. Sculpted Hair with sculpted hat (pegs into bald sculpt)

Ahh I dunno dude the answer really is what will end up looking the best to be honest. It's impossible to give a choice before I'd say.

Is it possible just to proto all three?? Just a bald sculpt and do all of them as an option or if that's too costly than we poll and go with majority vote?
