Re: MATHILDA sculpt (Sean Dabbs), outfit, and possibe LEON sculpt as well

I added new info to the OP, but I'll put it here too.

After discussing the sculpt options with Sean, he had the idea of possibly doing one unhaired sculpt, with two different hair pieces that can peg onto the bald sculpt (similar to HT Han Solo), one sculpted hair, and one sculpted hair with sculpted hat. This would allow for the most flexibility going forward for everyone. Another alternative to getting it haired, which can be pricey and not always look great, is getting a wig made that can be glued onto the bald sculpt. Sean says we would need at least 25 wanting it though for them to be produced. Let me know what everyone thinks about all of this. :)

It's hard to gauge without samples. So, I personally think your idea of keeping it flexible at this point is best.

Bear in mind though - you can't keep everyone happy and will need to draw the line at some point, otherwise it becomes costly and confusing.

Re: MATHILDA sculpt (Sean Dabbs), outfit, and possibe LEON sculpt as well

True, it can for sure. I can't think of any drawbacks other than the slightly higher cost doing it this way. Like you said, we'll see once we get some samples/mock ups. :)

There's no rush. Take your time. Personally, I'm just glad someone's having a go at it.

I assume you know this, but many years back kyekye on OSW had a go at a custom and did a damn fine job -

Re: MATHILDA sculpt (Sean Dabbs), outfit, and possibe LEON sculpt as well

UPDATE 1/20: Here's the latest from Toribox (Yunsil's company) -

< Hat >
We can't make the hat because it is knitted.
I'm sorry we don't knit any items.
I recommend that you make the hat by other materials(resin etc.).
I think the sculpture is better.
< Striped crop top shirt >
We will be trying to find ways to lower incidental costs.
If so, we can't make exactly the same one.
But we'll harder try to make similar shirt.
- Plan A : Fabric printing
Tha printing cost is about $100.00 USD.
- Plan B : Silkscreen
If we can't use the fabric printing, we have to use the silkscreen.
The silkscreen cost is increased as the number of colors increases.
So in order to reduce the cost, we have to use two colors.
For example, Black and White or Yellow and Brown etc.
I think that the cost is at least $400.00 USD.

I'm in talks with several other tailors, so I'm sure someone will be able to produce a 1/6 hat for Mathilda. Hell, I'll just ask my wife if she can make some, she's amazing at crochet. :p

People like Toribox and Yunsil etc will always be on the high cost side.

Might be worth trying Unleashed Viper:

Or even Tinela Ayres - although she seems pretty busy ATM

Re: MATHILDA sculpt (Sean Dabbs), outfit, and possibe LEON sculpt as well

I've contacted both of them, I'm waiting to hear back from Dan and Tinela is booked up and can't do it. I'm taking to a few others as well. We'll get someone that can do it eventually, this is a potential grail piece for me so I want to be sure to cover all bases and all price ranges to see what's possible.

Yeah, looks like fabric is a problem for Viper too.

Re: MATHILDA sculpt (Sean Dabbs), outfit, and possibe LEON sculpt as well

I figured, we'll just wait until I hear back from everyone and if it can't be done, figure out if we can live with something that's just similar, a different outfit from the film that is completely doable, or just paying the extra few bucks each to have the shirt made by fabric printing or silk screening. We'll see. :)
