Also remember Dan the sleeve cuffs and the bottom of the jacket liner is black bellow.Looks great the way it is but i would make it black not grey :lecture

Thanks for the tip, Mike. Not to argue with you, Mike, because knowing you, you have the real thing in your living room, but... I found lots of pictures and what's weird is, for the most part, pictures of the jacket as a prop, collectible or replica have them as black, but stills from the film look gray to me... Like this:

On the other hand, these shots look black:

Is it possible they were painted with a gray paint that came off in the water scene...? Do I dare conduct a poll, which may or may not yield a majority decision?

This is comparable to the Ledger Joker blazer discussion. The original blazer has been grey, due to the blue filter of the movie it appeared to be grey-blueish.

Similar things might have happened here too: consider the movie is from 1984. cameras havent been able to film in high definition. Assuming the cuffs originally have been black, it might have been possible that the cameras of that time simply werent able to catch such a small colour detail properbly. Later when the movie was reworked for the Bluray release (I assume the stills are from BR), it might be possible, that the remaining black spots were simply edited to grey when the picture was optimized. I dont know if my explanation makes any sense, but I have heared before that those little details can get lost in the editing process. I believe people did have a similar "issue" with one of the Terminator movies if my memory is right.

This being said, I wonder if the cuffs should be made of fabric or maybe plastic... Colourwise I wouldnt want it to be black as it wont look good imo. Id rather prefer a dark(er) grey as a compromise.

I would prefer if the colour was grey, looks more accurate to the jacket used in the movie.

the one HT made is not bad at all...I would still support this project just because I have a complete custom waiting for just this jacket...but I would also see if this project dies now that an official version will be released...let us know what your plans are....thanks

Interesting development from HT... they skipped Doc and moved onto 2015 Marty... If sales for BTTF were a little weak, then this move makes sense since they've already tooled a Michael J. Fox body and will do more to capitalize off it. Could possibly mean the end of the line since they still haven't shown anything for Doc...? I hope not.

Regarding the 2015 Marty and his jacket, it's possible that HT will fix the color, how skinny the sleeves are and how tiny the jacket looks, and you might be able to pick one up on ebay at some point... but you might have to wait a year or more. Marty's red t-shirt and jeans are already available on ebay from the first version so I won't bother, but if people want me to, I can still move forward with this jacket. I can even include with this jacket, some white pocket liners for the jeans to simulate that "turned inside out" look in the second movie.

I've got all the materials and the pattern made and can deliver the jacket in a couple of months.

Given this development, however, I will need to take payments now for anyone who still wants one. For the jacket and the pocket liners only, paypal $175 to: [email protected]. People who pay within the next 7 days (until July 16th, 11:59 PST), will get the goods; after that, we'll see -- my seamstress does not like to "go back and make one more" for obvious reasons. I'll give her the total count next week, and you guys should get the jackets shortly after that, hopefully by Labor Day.
