personally i want the mouth plate. dont care to see any human characteristic of the face. that's what i loved about the painting as a kid, the mystery of what he was............was he human?.......or some kind of demon/monster?.............

i guess you can kind of wing the body armor somewhat as the painting doesn't show hardly any of it. but you could review other pics & come up with something midevil or barbarianish that would go with the rest we do see. you are doing awesome so far so whatever you come up with should be fine. and the fur/hair idea was exactly what i was going to do with mine as well so some of it is going to be covered anyway.

Thanks mate.... wasn't sure about the fudging of the details as some may want a strict DD frazetta design, but they all differ, I kinda heading barbarian with a hint of gothic or post roman.

Sure can mate... though it's moving quickly i must warn you there is a fair amount to go, it may be a month or 2 before the whole kit is ready

I think it would be cool with out the mouth peace like your reference picture but u just paint it out black so u cant see anything human.

Today's update, after a couple of discussions I've had today I decided to redo the shoulder pauldrons of DD, rather than the comic book style I've decided to go back and rethink the original DD, and came up with a design which flows on from my helm. what u guys reckon?

Thanks Guys, GB your on the list :yess:, it really is a bit of fun to paint, I've really been just slapping on the paint with the scraps in the jar and the combo ,black, silver & brown, really give it character so quickly.
don't mind the thin resin in the shots, the 1st is my test so I'm preserving my resin, the final will be a little more solid

Armor is usually fun to paint... you can do a lot with the different metallic paints and get some cool combos. And that painting leaves a lot up to interpretation.

hellz yeah...............i think i'm going to group him with conan & the mob rules figures i made. both kind of have a fantasy/midevily vibe.

Well here's today's pics including painted pauldrons & Belt the the chain which arrived in the mail note the paddle pop stick for a sword :nana: really starting to take shape & once the belts, straps & chains start going on he'll be a beast , been looking around & think Thulsa Doom may be on my radar to do.

Note : I've also started the armoured feet & considering doing the greaves again

Your probably all sick of the angle but I like one with the shield and one with the sword, gonna need to try something else with the sword but its a good start
