I love the first option, but I also like the intensity of the second one.

#1 for me.

Same. I really want the squint.

I'm going to try a few more things tonight. I'd like to win more people over on this one. We don't get enough squinting from Arnie sculpts.

I haven't seen any criticism of the lip-curl though so that's good.

Is the option Riddick gave enough of a squint, or do you want more? I want the squint too, but if UlliPekka can't improve from what he showed in option #1, then I'm okay without it.

You know, this is perplexing, but it is nice to have this problem. This sculpt is so good and we're just squabbling over a couple tiny details.

UlliPekka you are the best. If you aren't going to make any other tweaks, I want one #1 and two #2.

I think what RIDDICK did there was keep the very same squint from 1 and put it with the eyebrows from 2.

As to your second bit, yes indeed. Yes indeed.

That's what I was thinking. The curled eyebrows do seem to help with the squint, yet it is clear from the movie screenshots his don't curl down the side. Let's see if UlliPekka whips up a third option. As long as it looks great and we get one with a squint and one without, that's all that matters.

Do you remember all the problems with trying to get a good Commando sculpt when sdabbs did it? The basic sculpt was somewhat flawed so all the changes kept complicating things. Not the case here.

I think this is a great solution that will allow us to get two different heads each of which will look great )

I'm still thinking of your comments about the introspective or sleepy look - comparing Ullipekka's to my last mod I think the thing making the difference is in Ulipekka's you can see more of his upper eyelids...

Eye comparison.jpg

Technically though I think they would still be there in my one, they're just obscured in shadow...as I'm thinking they would be in person though?

Let's consider something here though. Even though yours does look a little better for whatever reason, it is such a small difference, it will be completely lost at 1/6. If not that, the painter probably couldn't capture such a slight nuance.

That's where I learned my Windows Paint modding :D But yes we never did get there on that one and there came a point where I didn't think I was helping anymore so I stopped.

Exactly why I've been thinking it may not be a problem at all, will those upper eyelids be perceptible at all if that particular version gets physically produced?

Two things I want to try though

-mimicking the shadow that's on my one on the Ullipekka one to see if that's all it is
-actually eliminating the upper eyelids by maybe reshaping the eye opening a bit, keeping everything else as is.

:wink1:

In those shots he's not grinning (neutral mouth) and raising the right eyebrow a bit.
Add the sunlight squint into the mix and you'll get that odd looking left eyebrow.
Again, just try it out yourself and see. Get into character! :lol

But overall, yeah. Arnold's eyebrows are freakin' funny.
I think most would be ok with idealized look to them, me included.
After all, he's a Terminator. :monkey3

I have. My eyebrows are nothing like his :lol Mine go into a V shape when I frown and squint. His don't seem to do that and what we need is to get the particularities of Arnold rather than doing what we assume should be the case. Idealizing is Hot Toys way of doing things, lets not be Hot Toys. :D

Where's P. to make us all doubt everything we thought we knew?

Maybe it's best if P. doesn't show up at this point. This might never get made.

:lol

I don't think he wants to get into it, it was posted to the MMS136 thread. I'll leave him be for now.

Anyway, this is a tough one. I'm working on Ullipekka's V1, trying to see if the sort of 'placid' look can be eliminated. I believe it is primarily down to the visibility of upper eyelid. So I've done some reshaping on his more open eye - including some on the bottom eyelid. I believe I've now made that eye less open than it was previously but the main effect I wanted was to sheath the upper eyelid completely under his brow.

However over on his squinty eye all I've done is obscure the eyelid in shadow - and that's kind of cheating - because Ullipekka can't just draw on shadow - but straight away I think you can tell it looks better when you can't see that sliver of upper eyelid, particularly any eyelid that's right above the iris and pupil.....or not....?

My attempt to make new mod on new v1 render look more like my previous mod.jpg

Personally though if further Ullipekka renders don't work out I would still reset to today's version 1 and heck 2 aswell since he said more than one version could be offered.
