Er, thanks, then.

It's not that I don't care about the artist , their endeavour or their work, I just think that charging $250 for a single head is a piss-take. That's just my opinion and my choice not to pay what I believe to be a ridiculous price.

By charging these scandalous prices, they're actually helping create the market for the re-casters to operate in.

Don't put the blame on the artist, entitled collectors like you create the recast market.

If the price was reasonable, I'd have no question have bought it direct from the artist.

The situation was too perfect for recasters. Wrong scale, one of the most expensive sculpts in our hobby, but very popular character...

I can put indecent money into customs but still I didn't want to buy a $250 sculpt for a Die Hard figure. I know a lot of people did though.

What's wrong imo is that you don't mind selling a miscaled hs. Because between the quality of the cast and MJ's painting, I'm pretty sure that 250$ would have been fair.

I must say though I never bought any recast, this is appealing... obviously because of the pictures. But I'm pretty sure this is something that will need to be repainted and I don't see myself asking someone if they do recasts repaint... I'll pass.

You cannot be ****ing serious! Do you even realise how much time and effort it takes to paint a sculpt (not to mention sculpting in the first place)? The $250 is totally justifiable. Are you just gonna go and steal an expensive car because you think it cost too much?

No, as I stated above, I just wouldn't buy it. Your entitled to your opinion, I just don't agree with it.

Exactly this! There is this air of entitlement among people as if they are owed something for the original sculpts being expensive.

But you have to realise how absurd what you say sounds. You have this guy who spent countless hours sculpting this and then he went and spent even more time painting the copies by hand. I don't sculpt but I do paint and believe me it's a long tedious process, especially when you have to paint the same thing over and over again. It's a lot of time and patience.

On the other side you have the people who re-casted this. All they had to do is buy this, recast it and throw some factory paint on it and release it in the thousands. Yeah, I can see how they can afford to offer it so cheap. It cost them no sweat to produce it.

It is counterfeiting, do not buy this what you're doing is fueling sweatshops, child labor abuse and worshiping the devil. You know you will not be able to sleep at night knowing that you stole money from Mr. Choi. This man risked his life to save his wife from that skyscraper. That is unconditional love don't you guys understand that? I am so glad that they now put the code of conduct because some of you would not like to hear what I really have to say! Poopoo head is just for a start now all of you return the bootleg immediately

Those are the photos hey are using to sell the recast sculpt I highly doubt it will be even close to that .

I blame who ever started the post, I ended up buying it off ebay. I wouldnt have known about it otherwise but at that price I couldnt pass it up. Im not a "Die Hard fan" of this figure (pun intended):lol So to spend a big amount of money on a figure that im not crazy about just didnt make sense. So for someone like myself that isnt really isnt into this character but cant deny how good it looks makes sense. Im trying to collect only 80's figures so this fit the bill. Its like resellers of any fig, when the sell initially the get the most amount of money then prices come down after awhile. Everyone that paid $250 for the sculpt have the pride in saying they were the first and have a genuine sculpt that they can proudly display, and the artist got full pop for the first few runs and im assuming he made a good amount of money. But if it was a fig that I really wanted then I would def pay the extra for a quality piece. But I must admit I do feel a little guilty for buying it.:angelsmil

Poor Bruce Willis is seeing no money from any of this .....

Now I feel really dirty :(

You should feel dirty that's like trying to watch free Internet porn, you better buy a subscription for porn! Those poor women make no money when you watch it for free, that's basically what you did to the sculptor you watched his porn for free! You filthy dirty nasty 50 shades of gray dominatrix. I do not want to get myself in trouble so I'm going to stop now

I got the official MJ sculpt and love it, but always wanted to drill it and stick a cigarette in his mouth but obviously not drilling my MJ original but might buy a knock off to drill as a alternate head.:dunno

They better not recast the Indy because I spent the money I normally donate to the United ***** foundation, if you guys have any spare money you should look up the United ***** foundation it helps young African-Americans through school so that they can educate themselves and get out of those streets!

Ohh no my friend, free porn doesnt bother me one bit!!

and did he ever give his permission to the original sculptor to use his likeness? Did 20th Century Fox give permission for their character to be sculpted and sold?

I think that - if you can afford $250 and you want to pay that and are happy to do so - that is the right choice.

If you are not in the position to pay that money for a sculpt and realistically, your only other option is a recast - that is the right choice as well.

It's a difficult discussion with sound reasoning on both sides. It's down to individuals.

This is so discouraging. I pay the big bucks for the originals and everybody else pays peanuts. I know the quality will not be the same, but seriously, some of the paint jobs on these knock-off heads are pretty good. Although they aren't recasts, at least I don't think they are, some of the unlicensed heads out there like Crowe, Walker, Diesel, just to name a very few have pretty decent paints on them. No reason to think that this won't have one as well.

I'm sure we'll see Indy sculpts out there soon too. Another big one will be the Iminime Dirty Harry sculpt that should be shipping next month. Can't fault the people buying them. Most of them aren't on a forum like this and don't know they are getting copies. They see a great head and buy it.

You talk far too much sense, friend.

Away with you now and do not darken this thread with your level-headed reasoning ever again!

Begone!!!

One does have to be a bit conflicted about railing against a recast of an unlicensed product that no one got permission to do in the first place. There is some hypocrisy there.
