Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

I'm going to go off into a dark corner and cry.

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

Don't suppose you could cap the run at 20? :(

Only just saw this and an ultimate grail.

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

Guess I'm to late for this?

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

I'm really happy about the great response fellas! Nice to see there's some love for Snake. MGS2 is my favorite version too!

I'd love to do that cardboard box! I'll ask Corrose if he has time to help. I loved how those decals for Marty came out. It might add a little to the price, but Corrose's stuff is well worth it!

Thank you so much for agreeing to do this. I can come up with more reference pics of the in-game models. I'm just unsure on what color of background to use to make the model pop out more so I choose green.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but the user controlled lighting also gives different shades of the polygons that made up the face, hence why took several shots of the same angle with different lighting.

I'll be ready to provide more shots if needed.

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

Ryan, Frank Jaeger got me a ton of images of screengrabs and the models so I think there's enough there. If you can help me find some good references of that box, that would help! I think the box would make a very cool and fun accessory for sure!

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

One thing that we haven't really discussed is the figure body. Snake isn't that muscular and I was thinking the HT standard body might work well for him and we can do a sculpted necked head. Another option would be the new ACI Christian body which is slightly more muscular, but you lose a lot of articulation and he'll probably look odd when trying to pose with a rifle or gun since the arms can't really do aiming poses. What do you guys think?

I think the HT standard body would work really well since he's all covered up with clothing anyways.

The sculpted neck is a great idea! I think the body is irrelevant so long as the the body proportions is right such as his pronounced shoulder pads.

His mullet goes further than the pics, but you can't see it due to the polygon blending. I'll try to capture one that shows him looking down.

I would go with the TTM-21 "regular" Truetype body for Snake.

It's really a military-type body style, which is appropriate for the character. Enough sculpted muscles that it looks good in a skin-tight suit. Here's a pic of the TTM-21 with a Tony Meis body suit:

My feelings exactly! I think this is the best body for Snake.

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

The problem being that body is only available via eBay for $60-$90 a pop.

If the project doesn't get started until February, the price will only go up, if the supply doesn't dry up altogether. It might be in everyone's best interest, if you're on the list, to track down your own TTM21 now and hang on to it, until IDM is ready to start.

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

Hey fella's

John gave me the ok to bump up the list to 20 so heres who made the last 5 spots

Hidden Jitsu
Gallo Negro
Platty
Science Friction
Snake Eater

For the body i don't really mind to much, i'd prefer a non sculpted neck to be honest as i like dip the head up and down but if sculpted is the best way to go then so be it.

I was considering buying the new parted out wolverine body for mine. It's basically the TTM-19 with upper arm articulation which the TTM-19 lacks

With the TTM-19 you can't turn the bicep in to move the hands closer together, there is only the elbow and shoulder articulation and it doesn't work so well for Snake and his poses. I have one already for a custom

EDIT: TTM-21 looks good too, the double jointed elbows and left to right bicep articulation is a must

I mentioned the M4 not being a necessity and John said he would look into getting them anyway as they aren't really going to effect the price at all

Frank,

That's a very good point about the arm articulation! I think the elbow swivel is absolutely necessary for good poses with weapons. I also like the higher cut on the neck too, but they don't look as good as a sculpted neck. Maybe we can find a good balance and find a body that would have a nicely sculpted neck as well as the elbow swivel.

Swedishheat, that is a really good point. I've been searching around to see if there are more available TTM-21s, but the price is starting to creep up. If you guys have some readily available or looking to get one first, now is a good time to do so.

I'll see if there are any good alternative bodies we can use in the meantime without breaking the bank or supplies drying up. :D

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

Thank you for doing this man seriously!

Do you think something like the below could be easily done and included also? like the look at the beginning of the game.

https://www.blackopstoys.com/catalog/toy-soldier-vietnam-era-od-green-poncho-p-15092.html

Could be a cool extra to go along with the cardboard box, if not i'll just buy that one i think

Also i was thinking last night i'd kinda like the head to be able to hold a cigarette in his mouth but you wouldn't be able to do that would you without it being visible on the head when it's not in would you? Maybe it'd be good on the Pliskin head?

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

Jen can do it for sure. I'm not sure about the text on it though. We can probably ask Corrose to print it maybe. But I remember Snake's poncho was a bit darker than that. Or maybe it was because of the night scene in the beginning.

Re: IDM Customs - MGS2 Solid Snake Full Figure

yeah i was just using that as a reference as it looks pretty much spot on give or take a few details

If we get rid of the text, the eyelets, the pouch and make it a darker shade that would be wicked :yess:

Shaping up to be a very cool release
