Could be big sellers for him. . .particularly if he advertised on wrestling collector forums. I think the potential for sales is much greater than, say, another cult movie character wearing a suit.

:goodpost: Wrestling's a proven license with a huge fan base that is willing to shell out money for collectibles, action figures in particular.

Surprisingly, wrestling action figures actually topped the sales of Batman, Iron-man and Spider-man in 2011. A segment of fans have also shown that they are willing to pay for high end collectibles - i.e. low quality replica belts sell for 300.00 while the high end belts go for upwards of 2,000.00 and the good quality custom 6 inch figures routinely sell for 100.00+ on ebay.

Like you said, he'd have to get the word out to the wrestling fan community somehow though.

Wrestlers definitely don't fall into the "guys in suits" category, except maybe Ric Flair :rotfl

I'm just saying I don't see the interest for it. Let alone half the stuff posted in here. :dunno

WWF figures are just, I don't know. Not really worth making or all that interesting. IMO

I agree about not doing another character in a suit. But WWF? I mean c'mon. That's right down there with Jersey Shore characters.

It isn't appealing to people in this section, because there are fans of specific types of characters from certain kinds of movies/television that come into this section. But there are other wrestling fans on the board and elsewhere who could be interested, considering there are no official high end figures of wrestlers being made by anyone. Axe is right about body being an issue. Kaustic or something similar would probably need to be used, and it would only work with certain characters. But a classic Macho Man Randy Savage or Ric Flair with robes could be as eye catching and iconic as anything else you could put on the collectibles shelf.

For many, collecting is largely driven by nostalgia. That's why "cheesy and tedious" licenses like the Marvel comic book movies also sell. Same would apply to wrestling.

Marvel comic movies are almost universally recognized. WWF characters aren't.
Wrestling is incredibly popular in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Central/South America. Reasonably popular in parts of Europe and other parts of Asia and the Middle East, where they sell out shows whenever they tour. Not sure where you're thinking that folks aren't familiar with wrestling. Sub-Saharan Africa? Not sure they get funny books there, either.

:lol :lol

Missed this.

Nah, just making conversation. I've seen WWF but it just is a bit cheesy and tedious.

For me anyway it's more about nostalgia than quality of storyline/acting as I grew up watching the stuff as a kid (haven't really watched in last 10 years or so).

I was going to say that categorizing wrestling with the Jersey Shore was a bit much, but I do remember Snooki stepping into the ring at some point so I don't have much of an argument there. :rotfl

I wouldn't call it incredibly popular now. Do they even still play it on TV?

Point is, WWF characters aren't interesting (IMO). And wouldn't even be a fun project to watch unfold.

I mean, would you really want to spend $300 - $400 on a WWF character?

It's still on TV, though I wouldn't say it's as popular today as it was before but as I said earlier, the action figures outsold Batman and Spider-man last year so it's safe to say it's at least very popular.

However, it was wildly popular in the late 90's so those fans are still around. American Psycho came out in the 90's and those fans didn't forget about that character so how would this be different?

I would pay for a figure obviously, but I also have absolutely no interest in the American Psycho project that doesn't mean other people don't.

So just because I'm not into that character, I respect and understand that people have they're own reasons for liking that character.

I have no interest in the AP figure as well. But it's more of an interesting project IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing WWF or people who watch it. I just don't ever see IMINIME making it happen. And if it ever did happen it's not like I'd be upset that they chose to do it.

They did do a soccer player a bit back though, so you never know.

i'd be so into these. especially the sleepers crew.

Eh, more suits? I'm glad they are doing TWD. I wan't to see some battle damaged/weathered IMINIME stuff.

Soccer rather football is the most followed and popular game in the world in all continents (other than the North American one - althought I hear people are slowly warming up to it)... :rolleyes2

Plus it was Messi... regularly feted by experts and fans to be one of the greatest ever in the history of the game alongside Pele, Maradona, Cryuff etc etc and already only 25 with having won every individual and club honour there is to win - multiple times. Kobe Bryant is a huge fan of his :wink1:

Messi - routinely making the best defender look slow, bumbling and wrong footing them at will :rock

Me personally, no. But I could name about 10 guys in black suits that I would :lol

I'd like to get the Jersey Shore crew on the cheap though to serve as more entertaining target practice for my BB gun.

Sad part is I sound just like those D- bags :slap. The perils of growing up Italian American in NY. I'll never shake this s__t :eek:hbfrank:
