Likeness is a little off but it's really growing on me. If the material of the coat is the same as the Bale equilibrium coat, then I'm gonna be super happy. Really good material. :)

The likeness is growing on me too. It is really, really close and it may just be a paint issue. Maybe paint a little personality into Denzel through his eyes? I was thinking the chin-down eyes-up look that you see in a lot of the Alonzo pics, rather than the straight-on look he has here.

I think changing the eye position will definitely help with the likeness too.

That and adjusting the sides of his hair to the buzzed/shaved look will work wonders.

I really respect Dennys team but as much as I hate to say it I think this is just completely off, the paint probably isn't helping though since the unpainted sculpt looked miles better to me.

I was looking forward to this release but there's no way I'd purchase what's shown in these latest photos. With the right sculpt this could be bad *** but to me without the clothing I doubt I'd have recognized this as Denzel.

Maybe Denny will give it another shot on the paint job....seems he knocked out Lethal Weapon and American Psycho with ease...I'm sure they can do the same here.....

Is the headsculpt that off ? Other than the hair on the side should be shaved like in the movie , I think it looks pretty good but this is just my opinion :)

Im not seeing enough DW in this. For me its mainly the bottom lip.
In regards to the costume, looks good but the shirt collar is wrong.

It's a really great looking figure but some things are just not right.

The upper lip/mouth looks swollen on the sculpt.

The hair could be a bit more shaved on the sides. Just minor tweaks.

Well, before I start bowing down and throwing rose pedals at Iminime's feet I will say.... I was hoping for a stronger likeness. I'm not sure what it is yet that's throwing it off. I'm not sure if the paint is partially the culprit but at any rate it is an amazing paint job and conveys great realism. If we put our minds to this and figure out why this is off I'm sure Denny will make some changes to make this the best it could be.

Aside from the likeness falling short I can't express how impressed I am. This to me is a major sign of Iminime graduating and getting one step closer to the majors. Paying attention to details, making a greater effort for accuracy and including all of the necessary bits at a great price point... this is where I always had faith that Iminime could be. Those of us who have been early supporters may have sucked up a few lack luster releases from Iminime, or other pieces that needed extra love out of the box... but I always knew that our patronage and support would help them grow to this point (and beyond); to a point where they can give us sets that still feel custom and handmade but have the completeness of an official release.

I have a few small nits aside from the likeness but overall this is a SUPER STRONG reveal and a giant jump forward for them. Get busy Iminime!!! :clap :bow :clap :bow

The tailoring looks pretty good on the jacket but its missing the holes for the buttons to go through on the left side, and the upper lip is throwing off the likeness a bit

The one clear change I hope we can all agree on is the shaved sides for his haircut.

Really loving this figure the more I look at it, but that one change will make him pretty accurate to the Alonzo character.

As far as the likeness goes, I'll have to think about it but there is something throwing it off and it might be the paint as you could see Denzel in the WIP sculpts. I wonder if a simple thing like changing the eye position in the paintup will help.

Here are some pics of the haircut:

I agree on the hair but that's not the main factor that's throwing off likeness. Sure Denny can tighten up that fade and that'll be an improvement but what's off is in the face....

Ultimately I love the figure and I'm going to buy it, not sure if my suggestions can help but here you go.

Maybe it's the lighting, but what's throwing off the likeness for me is that he looks a lot older than his age in the film. I think some of this has to do with the folds in his skin and the puffiness of his eyebags.

I think the positioning of all his wrinkles are correct, I just think they need to be smoothed out a bit.

What I'm talking about shows in the side profile. It looks like Training Day Denzel in these pics because his face is a bit smoother and you can't see the prominent folds in the forehead and eyes (they look more like lines). Also, his face looks more elongated here. When I see these pics, I see 2001 Denzel:

When you see the front profile, he looks about 15 years older than he was in the film with all of those folds/puffy eyebags and a seemingly shorter/chubbier face:

guys, this head is tiny...has anybody else gotten the crazy detective, i did, and i love the figure and sculpt,, but it is again way too small...? i dont get it. this head gets lost with the big leather jacket, and the puff under the eyes has to go, there is never a need to sculpt puffy eyes, that can be acheived with paint. anybody ever see what ray did with the pacino sculpt with the bags, brilliant, all with paint... please denny make it a tad bigger and lose the puff. this looks fantastic....

i hope denny isn't taking this as an offending, as i respect him and love his work very much. also that he considered doing this, is much much appreciated. i mean, where the heck can you get an alonzo figure?

although i have to say, that the sculpt is a let down for me, as i had (maybe too) high expectations. when i look at the morgan freeman sculpt, the bale sculpt, neo, etc,... this sculpt here doesn't reach that high level.

i don't know what it is, it's the combination of a lot on the sculpt that doesn't work together.

1. the head is just too small
2. the eyes are looking wrong
3. mouth/lips have a wrong shape, and they aren't pronounced very good. maybe it's just the painting he has these edged lips, don't know how to discribe.
4. the shape of the head looks for me also wrong. the forhead is curved here too much inward, and is too small.
5. and like my buddy tbay said, those puffy folds aren't helping at all

i'm not a good photo-editor, but i tried this out quick. maybe i'm alone with my thoughts, but i've tried changing these parts, that i mentioned. on the right side you're seeing the edited version, the left side is the original sculpt.

there is still much more to be done, and the edits can be done also much better than i've done, but these are just my thoughts for denny. and again, i hope you don't take this negative. i'm just trying to motivate you to be better and better ;)
