I, in conjunction with Aperture 360 Art, am offering for sale pre-painted and decalled head and hat combinations of everyone's favourite ink blot masked vigilante. Marc and I have some awesome things planned for fans of Science Fiction, comic book and Steampunk collectibles and this is just a premiere offering. The head-hat sets will come painted and decorated in single sets for $50. But we are also offering 3 heads, one hat combos with different "expressions" on each head for $125. Shipping will be based on the sets ordered and be accurate. The 3 head combos will be perfect for mimicking the ever changing look of the hero's mask. These heads are just a tad rough as I was working the bugs out of the decal system. Your heads will be perfect. The heads will come pre-drilled to fit the peg on a Hasbro Super-Articulated body. The perfect body for height and articulation for our diminutive vigilante. If you are interested in a set, please comment in the thread and tell us whether you want the single head hat set or the 3 head hat combo. I will start a list and make and send them out in order. Thanks.

Just a little confused......

I remember reading when Elvis posted his Rorshach figures people saying that it would be cool if it was possible to have a few different heads with different "expressions" to mix and match. Well I figured out a way to do that which is quick, easy, and allows for the creation and application of any number of different ink blot patterns and the almost total lack of interest has been stultifying. Can someone fill me in on the problem with these heads? Would full figures be better? Is there some other issue that we can address? It is a classic graphic novel, an awesome movie, and DC is revisiting the characters in its Before Watchmen series. Not sure why 145 people looked at the thread and only one person said anything at all. My friend and I are trying to make stuff people want and we aren't getting any response at all. Just trying to figure out the problem, is all.

Re: Just a little confused......

i dunno whats wrong it has to batman related or based off a Tv show for people to care no offense to anyone.

Re: Just a little confused......

Perhaps no one knows what "Ink Blot Hero" means. Change the thread title to "Rorshach heads". Don't try to get too cutesy with your "I'm trying to hide from copyright infringement" thread title. The studios know what goes on here, changing the name doesn't mean anything. They either care enough to stop it or not.

Also, I think a lot of people don't have any money anymore. So, while $125 is a great price for 3 painted heads, it's also $125, which is a lot of money.

Welcome to running a business. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. Marketing is also a key aspect. Have you thought about changing your name to Rocco??

Re: Just a little confused......

I find it real easy to miss new custom projects. Unfortunately the front page spins over very quick and custom interest can be lost amongst the billions of HT threads ;-p

Re: Just a little confused......

There has been a lot and I mean a lot of custom sculpts over the last few months which people might be trying to recover from money wise. I know there are a lot of sculpts I would like on the forum but I have to prioritise them as I can't afford every one of them.

Re: Just a little confused......

Also you only put the thread up today it does take a few days before interest starts happening due to different time zone.

Re: Just a little confused......

I looked at your thread and moved on because of couple reasons.
First thing, the heads that you are offering are good but they appear to me to be from the comic character and not the movie. I collect movies figures and am staying away from comic material. Just my collecting habit. Second, and probably most importantly, they are just the heads. Bashing a movie version of Rorschach is tough. He's short and finding all the clothing to fit in the right scale is the hardest part. No offence, but the head is the easiest part. If there was a source for the costume, I wouldn't buy a head, I would just make one myself. If I didn't care about scale, I would just pick up the DC version, because it wasn't bad, especially for the price.

Just my two cents.

Re: Just a little confused......

Another good way to prevent lack of sales is to start an interest list before the project that way you can gauge whether or not if people are willing to commit to such a project.

Re: Just a little confused......

It seems like it comes down to a popularity contest. Who's working on a project seems to draw more interest than what the actual project is.

But this is everywhere - in movies, music and how you can see - in figure section. People likes big names... So you must build your name at first...

Re: Just a little confused......

The way I see it is this way. There is a lot of talent on this forum. We have good talent and then we have super talent. Guys like Small Studios, Elvis1976, Serang, etc. they're the super talent. Hence all the comments.

I've posted stuff in the past and it's taken a while to get some comments. The better you get, the quicker the comments will come.

Hang in there.

Saw your "I'm a little confused" post and felt kind of sorry for you. So I thought I'd try and help by bumping the thread up. Not really interested in the product myself. Did'nt like the movie, never read the comic.

Re: Just a little confused......

Thainer, i dont see the heads? Did i miss something? Also, try creating what you personally like and the bring others along for the ride if they're interested. If no one likes, then at least you have a great addition to your collection. also, as you post more progress and bump your thread others may pay more attention as it develops and then become interested.

This is the coat I used for the figure in the pictures. Kinda basic but perfect scale and with a wash and some distressing it looks decent. I also used some micro brads from Michael's to add new in scale buttons. Plus I am looking at making some in scale pants (ie for short figures) from some pinstripe material in purple I just printed. I may have jumped the gun just a little but I am sorting out the way to make a great figure of an awesome character. I may get slammed for this but i am not really looking to make a purple suit jacket as you can't see the one on my DC direct figure and too many jackets are a bad idea at this scale a lot of the time.

Also I really do appreciate the support and suggestions I have received so far.

Ok. Now I'm really confused. I see all kinds of interest threads in the Custom Creations section which haven't been moved to the interest thread section and my questions about a head I have for sale which I put in the more visible section of this forum gets moved back to the interest section. I counted at least 3 interest or for sale threads on page 1 of the Custom Creations section that aren't in this section. This just seems very arbitrary and rude.
