Absolutely spot on. Everything is constructive and your manip looks absolutely incredible! Just goes to show how a few tweeks and this is a thing of beauty. I definitely agree with the mouth closed as well. That's definitely increasing the likeness to Hamill imo. Also completely agree with the more washed out and subtle paint work to retain a more boyish charm. Basically everything you have said is absolutely on point imo, and the manip is absolutely 100% ANH Luke :duff
I would buy that one in the middle in a heartbeat. As it stands, unless changes are made to the version on the right, I will be skipping this.
I think in many respects Hamill is a tougher likeness to capture than Ford. Add to that, this is the Farmboy Luke version (25 years, but looks younger) and it makes things even more difficult. Younger characters are typically more difficult because age tends to add more character and definition, which is one of the reasons why the ESB sculpt looks more accurate. I agree there are some things that are throwing off the sculpt likeness. As many have pointed out the nose looks off at least from the photos. The tip is a little too bulbous and may also need to drop. I'm not sure if the slightly open mouth and the wide open eyes go together. While I'm sure there are frames where you can find this, having the mouth open forces the cheek and jaw muscles into a position that folks aren't as used to seeing. As a result, Luke's face is longer and looks more rugged and older IMO. Also this is one of those cases where I think a smoother paint job that de-emphasis detail might be better, as it will maintain that baby-faced look we are used to. That said, keep in mind some of this could also be the angles of the photos and camera distortion. I think Jnix has done an amazing job. I'm looking forward to getting this, and I think the in-hand reviews are going to have fence-sitters scrambling.
My very quick Photoshop mockup. Not saying it's better or worse. PS: Maybe giving him a very slight boyish smile would add to his character while addressing the face/jaw elongation and still avoid the mannequin look.

This is easily the BEST PS of the sculpt so far.
However, I think the impact of the open mouth will be greatly diminished in hand... Just like with Han.
Jnix likes to shot pics from a down angle with the sculpt also looking down. This tends to shade the top lip and intensify the look of the slightly open or pursed month. I think this disappears if shot from a slightly different angle or with a bit of direct lighting.
I'm with Comatoast and the others who have said that the more you look at this sculpt even as is, the more you (or at least I) like!

Jnix is using traditional sculpting method, I don't think he can fix a partial of the sculpt without it effecting the other parts. Even if he could, it will take quite a long time.

I think we may have broken a record for velocity of hand wringing posts in a single morning. Lots of valid critiques, and some good PS renders but this latest Jnix piece is still a vast improvement over the stock.
Continually amazed by how quickly Jnix gets a paint app out there. The power of solid airbrush skills.

You seem quite resistant to Jnix making tweeks, Mike? Why so?
I don't know that anybody is in a rush for this? I am pretty sure people would be willing to wait for an improved sculpt, and thus increasing sales as well. I think there are probably quite a few like myself that are stepping away from buying this as it currently stands. A few tweeks as per the suggestions and Jnix will be cashing back in. It's a win win for all.

Not really feeling this one thus far, I'm sorry to say. I'll just stick with the stock one unless he undertakes more revisions. But the paintwork is superb! No doubting the beautiful, lifelike sculpt and paint.

I think as many have said JNIX did warn us (those who jumped the gun early) to wait it out before putting an order in as tweaks more than likely would not be made, i loved my Han sculpt so much I didn't want to miss the opportunity on this sculpt. That being said this sculpt, and I do appreciate the hard work and effort that has gone into it, could use some pointers from those with a more trained eye than myself. There is something uncanny about the sculpt which I just cant describe well enough

I think it's inevitable that there is a lot of push back to be honest. The hype for this was huge which always raises expectation. Thst being said I think the criticisms are warranted and will lead to a better result.

Meh, I bought 2 and I'm sticking. I think it looks great - best Luke sculpt eva'. If he can tweak it great, if not...c'est la vie. I actually didn't know he was sculpting traditionally - the first sample looked like a render.

As it stands, this sculpt isn't working for me as Mark Hamill, but more importantly, as Luke Skywalker. People with more time and a better eye than me can say exactly why with reference to the subject - in my opinion the nose is too thick, the eyes are too wide, and I feel the chin is both too long and a little too square - but the biggest problem for me is that it doesn't represent Luke's character - he might be relatively innocent but he's not THAT wide eyed an innocent; he's a boy from the sticks, not a ready made hero but a boy who makes himself into a hero, going back to things that are only mentioned like his 'bulls eyeing womp rats'. Jnix's sculpt is too conventionally heroic, the striving isn't there.

It's not an absolute mind blower like Han was no... It's a lot better than the stock though but unlike the Han I'll still use my stock head on my x wing Luke etc.
I'm glad to see there's criticism though, mostly just because I think the feedback could make this a home run of taken into consideration, I think we should keep it all coming.

Wonder if the current sculpt can be sanded to fix the nose? [so he doesn't have to go back to drawing board]
Maybe he doesn't want to do that, but I'd get the unpainted to 'fix' it myself, then have it painted. Hmm....
EDIT: Now that I look at the first page, that's a negative. There are details you'd "sand off", and ruin it.

It's always tough because of the skin/texture detailing, sanding will make it too smooth by comparison.
He would have to alter the clay sculpt and then re-cast it.
