That (original shot) is easily the least flattering pic we have of the sculpt painted, or unpainted, so I don't think we'll be able to "fix" that particular one. For that picture, it's all about the lighting that's effecting the likeness making the head look very square.

But having just a bit more time to digest, I think that folks who pass will be sorry for it once we see in hand shots.

If Jnix chooses to make any tweaks at all, the ones that will make the most improvement will be the easiest to do. I minor reset of the eyes with a possible color tweak to the decals, and a slightly softer paint app, and we're shooting for the fences again!

And this is why you don't jump the gun early on buying stuff. It looks good, but it definitely needs the talked about tweaks. I will buy for sure after those are made.

To be fair, he could just as easy have not posted the sculpt until he had the painted one ready, or not taken payments, I think most people jumped too quickly, myself being one of them lol
I really hope Jnix will revise the sculpt, it's so damn close, but it's just not there to the level Han was.

Okay, so very rough, very shaky, on my camera phone - but I aligned the eyes and was looking at this.

Because the camera is moving, just focus on one part at a time. Perhaps someone else could do it properly? It's easier to see changes than side-by-side.

I just asked two people which one looks more like Luke Skywalker and both people said the one on the right. So, there's def a likeness improvement there.

But you took what is obviously a unflattering photo of his sculpt and are comparing it with a glamour shot. I like the way he looks in the photos on his Facebook page and it is miles better than my stormtrooper sculpt.

Shadows are playing with that open mouth. From what I'm seeing, a slight tilt upward, or some soft direct lighting would transform what you're perceiving...

Here's Han with what we know is a sculpted slightly open mouth:

The reason this is possible is that Jnix's sculpts of "open mouths" are really just slightly pursed/relaxed lips. Subtle lighting can dramatically change the look.

I think Craig Walker's comparisons a few pages back finally made me see the problem (I didn't want to quote them because Craig was using them as a way of saying how much he likes the sculpt).

PLEASE don't think I'm trolling - I bought two painted Han sculpts and the one I have left (I gave away the other one) is pretty much the best Star Wars thing I own. But IMHO the nose, eyes etc are secondary to the fact that the bone structure is WAY too strong for Mark Hamill - especially cheekbones - which means that the whole face is off to me. Mark in 1976 had the most boyish features possible, the only thing that changed that was his accident. His face has a complete absence of strong features, which is why, visually, he was such a good fit for the part of an unformed adolescent growing up.

For this reason I won't be buying it, and in my opinion Jnix should scrap it completely and start again. But that's just my honest opinion, and I know I'm in a minority of one!

That's fair Tom! I don't think anyone begrudges you for that opinion. All I'm saying that is in that based on that fisrt pic I posted above, I would not have bought the sculpt...and I'm in love with the sculpt shown in the second pic. I think these Luke sculpts are going to SHINE in hand. I hope those who chose to pass don't regret it later.

Love the hair sculpt and color. I'd take just that as a replacement for HT's. I'll be passing on this one though. I love my Han sculpt but for a lot of the reasons mentioned by others I just don't see Luke in this one like I see Han in the other.

The way I look at it, I've already got a Luke anh lookalike sculpt in the hot toys one, i don't really want to find out I've payed for another one, I want a Mark Hamill 1/6 scale Luke anh head sculpt.
Jnix is a first class sculptor and artist, of that there is no doubt, but he's not captured Luke in the same way he did Han, that sculpt was knocked out the park and into another universe.

Also, look at the narrow reflection of light from the bridge all the way down the nose. It's clear that this is a rounded feature. I wonder how much of the perception of the bridge being too wide is the effect of a flattening of the image in 2-D.

When Jnix first posted pictures of his painted Han sculpt, I wasn't impressed enough to buy it. Then, when in hand photos started rolling into this forum, I was scrambling to get one and was blessed that Jnix put me on his extras list. I bought this Luke sculpt in advance, without any photos. Now that I enjoy Jnix's art, I don't want to miss the opportunity to own his version of Luke. I am confident the final production piece will look amazing in hand. A Jnix sculpt worth owning.

Can't decide if I want to pull the trigger on it or not. I was actually quite pleased with the stock one. May just pick up an unpainted one to do something with it down the line.
