Oompa Loompa still rough but here is a WIP pic.

Something is off about the likeness but I can't place it... He looks kind of angry.

Here is a mock up of the size of the pattern on the RM vest… It has been designed to suit 1/6 scale. This will give you some indication on how detailed it will look…

I think it's looking good!

After thinking of the oompa sculpt I think it looks more normally proportioned instead of looking like little people. The key is in the eyebrows. The hero oompa loompa has a more bulbous forehead and nose.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

So, is the Oompa head sculpt supposed to be Rusty, or a generic Oompa? I think the sculpt size needs to be a little disproportionate to the body, size wise. It appears to be sized to scale, but should be a touch larger. Any opinions?

I think the size is hard to tell from those shots. The oompa loompa definitely has a pretty large noggin.

I'm not doing any particular oompa...just a little person who will be painted like an oompa. I have a ton of pics but none straight on/profile and all are pretty blurry if you zoom in. I don't want to use other sculpts as reference. So I'm just going to put my own twist on the oompa and try to just make a good sculpt. Hope that is ok with everyone.

I think I would personally prefer one based on a movie likeness, but I understand your decision. If we do go this route though, maybe a little less angry in the eyebrows? I don't want him to look like he is about to kick Wonka in the shin haha.

ok, I'll straighten the eyebrows and remove the fangs and horns. I don't know what I was thinking. ;)

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

I was under the impression, from a previous post, that the Oompa was supposed to look like Rusty. That's why I was confused. I also prefer it based on a movie likeness, but as mentioned, I understand your decision as well. Yes, less angry and more content makes for a happy Oompa.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

I will make a happy oompa. I prefer the happy characters so the oompa will have a smile or grin or something happy. I think the most menacing character in my collection is the Grinch. Haha.

Just as long as is a subtle smile. They were always so oddly non expressive haha. See the subtle smile a couple posts up where he is polishing the egg.

I am dying to see the wonka sculpt when it is painted up! The preview pics look amazing.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

ok, I won't go overboard with the smile. I'm anxious to get that Wonka sculpt to Jake too! I think it's going to look great.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

I third that on the Wonka sculpt. Every time I go back and look at that last photo, I get really excited thinking about how this is the absolute best sculpt there is of Wonka.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

It is hard to tell if it is too light or not, the photo quality doesn't help too much. But I imagine a bit more saturation would do us well! The second photo looks better.

The silver overlying the gold stripe effect is looking nice! I think that is definitely the right way to go!

Could be the lighting, hard to tell. Colors are very washed out, especially the flower colors.

It's actually the colours it prints the colours lighter so in order for them to be darker they need to be made darker on the image I have sent Jason an email with the pictures I got to see what he says. It's something to do with the RGB colour.

I know it all too well haha. A lot of my work is design / animation, but thankfully I never deal with print haha. These things happen all the time, its very hard to get it just right. We will nail it though I am sure!

Yep, needs to be CYMK for print, colour goes down in 4 separate passes

Yeah there is a lot of benefit doing it that way over darkening the template.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions: Update last page please read!

CMYK is actually down as one print with 4 plates, but end result is made up of all colours mixed together..
4 passes would be spot PMS colours... like screen printing

The Tailor is actually saying they want the RGB colour as it produces better colours for their digital printer. And that it will print at 80% of the true colour - but it is very light...

Don't worry - we will get it right!
