Re: Once Upon a Time in the West Frank - PROJECT FINISHED

That and the Obi Wan by Galacticustoms are nice in that they give a thorough start to finish tutorial but I would love to see some of the ultra realistic painters (Skiman Paul Prentice JD Kim Jacob Rahmier) do one just to get some tips on those amazing skin textures they are able to achieve. I think in the end it might come down to acquiring some airbrushing skills but I'm not sure I'm ready to tackle that right now. Good luck with your paint up and can't wait to see the finished product.
It was the one with the Captian Kirk head, and I did watch a couple of others in the week or so before I tried this that were fairly similar... just explaining about primers and dry brushing and so on. It's good fun I'll definitely keep at it and see if I can build up some skills. I bought some of the eye decals from Hunter to try them out - Harmonica's eyes are so damn tiny I think this might be the way to go. Thanks for sharing the link, very much appreciated.

UPDATE
I also received the sample from spoonflower. I redid the pattern on the jacket (an ODD pattern) the lines are to scale, and its in the fleece material we need. Let me know what you think.

I think this looks good. The jacket will be longer, right? I think it goes down to right above his knees.

Yeah agreed, the realism those three achieve is absolutely insane. Darren Carnall (the guy who did Captain Kirk) has a payment option where you can pay $3 a month to watch his proper painting tutorials. He's not on the same level as JD Kim but for a beginner like myself the skills are pretty handy. I just subscribed and watched the first video, and unlike the Kirk vids which is just put to music, in the paid vids he actually talks through what he's doing and why he's doing it... pretty good tips on texture, depth, stubble, mixing paints etc. Well worth the price of admission so far (for me).

Frank's outfit looks great but the coat for Harmonica looks too short and too chunky to me.

Re: Once Upon a Time in the West Frank - PROJECT FINISHED

Err...no offence to whoever bought them. Still going to make a superb set when all put together.

Re: Once Upon a Time in the West Frank - PROJECT FINISHED

I saw it too..Looks pretty good. I like Frank's outfit especially. Anyway, I got my Frank's coat in yesterday... looks great. I'm contemplating not even dying it.. We'll see.

Re: Once Upon a Time in the West Frank - PROJECT FINISHED

Those do look pretty decent, regardless of the length of Harmonica's jacket.

Re: Once Upon a Time in the West Frank - PROJECT FINISHED

I too am not a huge fan of Harmonica's coat there ^^^ but the rest looks very good. Congrats to whoever got it. :)
