I agree the face off version should of been part of the actual figure! It's really unfortunate that this option was not executed. And to be perfectly honest who cares about a bust.

I agree with all the previous comments. If the regular figure had the removeable face, then I'm all in. As it is, I'm not very interested. And the bust? Well, I hope this doesn't set a trend as it isn't something I'm the slightest bit interested in.

Oh, dear. So, no chance of changing his mind either.

I'm not 100% sure what he means, because I personally wouldn't care if the neck and head were one solid piece with the body. Or, a whole interchangeable torso/neck/head assembly, a bit like the way he supplied his latest Bill with painted torso.

The figure just having poseable arms and legs would be okay in my book because Yul held himself stiff and robot-like anyway.

If I'm making any sense at all? :lol

Just got caught up on this thread and I'm now totally at a loss on the entire project.

1. It comes out of nowhere and celebrates a pretty niche film, albeit with an iconic character.
2. The unfortunate bust trend continues.
3. Little to no accessories.
4. Something's off on the sculpt. There are traces there, but the face is too narrow or something, particularly by the lower cheeks maybe?
5. The main thing...the BIGGEST thing.....both in the film and for this figure would be to have a removable face, probably best held in place by magnets.

Why no removable face?!?

I would have overlooked everything else if the the face simply came off.

Sadly, this one will be my first Rainman miss in a while.

The likeness is great. But personally i think the removeable face look is more representative than a burnt face, would like buy it if the DX version offer a removeable face. :slap

Well, a perk is that this doubles as a very close stand-in for Chris Adams from Magnificent Seven, a more notable film and one of Yul Brynner's signature roles, especially because the heft that Brynner had as the Gunslinger isn't easy to convey in 1/6, so he looks like his thinner self from M7.

I agree with all of this. Even though I was very excited by the prospect of this project, the reality of the final version offered just doesn't quite hit, in my opinion. And certainly not for the price asked. Shame, because I'm a huge Westworld and Yul Brynner fan, too.

:wink1: That was my thinking and the sole reason i'm getting it. As such, I'm maybe the only one glad that Lee limited the removable grid to the bust.

I hope someone close to RM can ask him this - because I think it could work. But I can't see him changing things now that he's taking orders unfortunately.

From reading some of Rainman's Facebook posts it seems that he was concerned about the cables coming out of the head and couldn't get that to work for the figure.

Personally, I'd have been fine with dispensing of the cables altogether for the removable face. The other bummer is that because this was essentially a secret project dropped from nowhere there was no chance for any collector input. I know that's a slippery slope but for situations such as the recent Norman/Psycho project I think some well-placed and well-meaning suggestions on the sculpt helped tremendously.

Ah well, what's done is done.

Congrats to all getting this one.

I could've done without the cables as well, especially if it meant getting that removable face and being able to see the electronics behind it.

to be honest, you guys can get the clothing set and the bust, carefully carve the head off the bust and plop it on the figure haha and there you go, your wanted figure for $900

Yup. Thought about that. Totally doable. :lol

:lol No way I'm doing that to a $500 Rainman bust.

There's already too many custom/ruined figures on Ebay

I'm curious, maybe somebody can help me out with this question. In the movie are his boots brown? From the pictures I've seen they look brown, not sure though. My other question is about his gun belt and some pictures he's wearing one pistol and in some photo's, he's wearing a second pistol not sure which one is correct. Although I was not going to consider getting the full set or the DX I am now considering getting the clothing and sculpt separate.
