So which version is everyone getting that is planning to order tonight or if you've already have ordered through VIP?

This figure looks great! Though I'm not seeing any Yul Brynner in the sculpt which is a surprise from Rainmans work as he has always hit the mark on likeness. I'm getting a more Sam Neil and Hugo Weaving vibe from some of the angles. Never the less, love the attention to detail :)

How long ago did it go up? All sold out.

I was thinking of just getting the outfit this time around. RM's sculpt isn't quite doing it for me either. I have a custom that I'm thinking of getting repainted:

The more I look at the sculpt, I can't get past the lips and the thinness of the face. The lips are too dramatic and sharp. Yul had a much fuller face in Westworld, the sculpt is thinner and more defined.

Ordered my set! Overall, Rainman did a fantastic job on this figure. I understand some are disappointed the face doesn't come off. However, the majority of the movie the face is normal and to have your figure displayed with the mask off feels a bit gimmicky anyway.

Right - more Chris Adams than Gunslinger.

I have gotten over not having the removeable face on the full set or separate sculpt, but I just can't get past the lips and thinness of the face.

where are all the Rainman fans? All sets are available ..

I think it may be the larger run sizes. I think it were x 20 DX and x 30 Fullest etc, we may see some sell out...
It could be the whole removable face not as the figure also.

I've gotta be honest, getting more expensive (both in price and declared value for shipping), fewer accessories, larger run sizes, oddball film/character choices, and less "OH MY GOSH HE NAILED IT!!!" sculpts is really starting to put a damper on my love of this man's work.

I love Westworld and Yul's character, so I am biased. However, I was going to go for the DX, but I'm underwhelmed. Not to mention prices and import changes, as mentioned above.

So, I just went for the clothes set + painted headsculpt and I'll see what it looks like in hand.

I wonder why he changed that...

I can only imagine the head of people who did not notice this when they will get their $400 customs bill with their $1500 figure...

I'm happy I don't really like what he is doing recently. I only bought Dracula on the last 4 he did. This one is nice but Dx set should be $1000-1200 not $1500 this makes no sense to me.

it only makes sense if you see that no one batted an eye since he started introducing a "DX" option with the cabbie...since then...he has gotten heftier on price and sometimes lighter in the items presented..but hey....its RM...he cant do anything that may seem greedy....right?...its all done for the "fans"....lol

Have a lot of respect for him, but off late nothing he is making is of interest for me.

1) many people, buying and flipping things without they even reaching their zip code does not help the cause either. People buy, click pictures and sell. That's not my definition of a hobby.
2) As for his releases - For instance I could say I wanted 8/10 things he did before jack Torrance. Now most of the stuff is a pass for me. Although I am spending a lot more in outfits, paint, accessories etc on other custom figures that I am collecting.
3) a big reason for me to lose interest in his past 4-5 releases is more cause of the inaccuracies / likeness issues with sculpts (I know we can term it as artists representation etc) but to spend 1.2k and then get on a list and buy a more accurate sculpt / paint for 300 does not help the cause.

I am Liking the whole hand pick sculpts and outfits and get a figure in place game more. (Accessories remain a challenge from time to time but well)

This is what has crippled the artist and ruined the hobby of collecting imo

I disagree. I think if an artist produces a less than accurate sculpt then people in any case have to fish for sculpts.

Rain man = sculpt + yunsil + accessories.
Sculpt and accessories were his strengths. Past releases he is struggling on both. So while I am a fan, can't she'll 1-2k on figures that don't look accurate. Finally, most people chase them as grail and then pictures and hola - they are on sale. (But that's a diff point)

Once again - if he ups his game back to the days of - there will be blood, Anton, bill, you will see a turnaround.

No one needs / wants to go through the pain of outfits, sculpts, paint, accessories etc on separate lists, but then while they are also not cheap (almost same as rainman cost) you do get a fairly accurate figure.

Honestly, I more than anyone, always want a full figure release - but not at the cost of accuracy especially on sculpt front which is so so imp. Lastly, in case of rainman - he is just not making what I want to collect. (But am always happy cause he is making for some folks who want these so no complain there either)

Dunno man, I get what you're saying, but can't 100% agree with regard to my Drac DX - it's the pride of my collection. He released it this time last year. I think the likenesses/sculpts on those two figures are spot on. I have them in a custom, dedicated display case and that's where they're staying.

I'm not a fan of the Psycho release, but others seem to enjoy the set, so more power to them.

I've never flipped figures, but, out of interest, why does it bother you? How does it affect your enjoyment of the hobby? I am genuinely interested in your repeated statements regarding flipping. I don't care what other people do, as long as it doesn't harm others.
