If you're unsure then you could buy a clothing set and wait for pictures of the head sculpt. Then perhaps if enough people are unsatisfied a replacement might be commissioned from another sculptor.
Isn't the clothing set sold out at this point?
I don't understand all the doubt about the revised sculpt. Rainman has always done great and, more importantly, high quality work. The fact that he's willing to go back and revise the sculpt AFTER it sold out shows his commitment to producing a great figure. Have a little faith people and chill out.
The mother figure looks perfect but it's not just his face that is off the dress he wears as mother did not have a belt and it was darker in color in B&W. The Dracula figure had the correct pattern on the robe. This figure needed some revisions before it was released it's far from being screen accurate.
As far as accuracy goes, I think that both Yunsil & Lee took a good bit of artistic license with several things. Some things I think they missed, some things aren’t shown on screen so they winged it, and I guess some things they chose the best balance.
The dress they chose for this set is the one from the shower scene and Norman’s regular outfit is the one from Mother’s reveal scene (but he does wear a white shirt with similar color pants throughout the movie, so it’s hard to tell if they are the same or different with the lack of color). Both outfits are accurate but I get the impression that Norman usually would wear woman’s shoes as seen in the scene with Arbogast, and he only threw the dress over his normal attire because he was in a rush in the cellar scene.
The one time that we see mother’s feet is when Norman is carrying her downstairs, and she appears to have legs with shoes on. That was surely done to keep the secret from the audience, and I guess how much the body would’ve decomposed or have been able to be preserved is debatable. You get the clearest glimpse at her dress in the same scene where he carries her, and while you can’t make out a pattern, it does appear a lot lighter than what they made for this set.
Unless they found some behind the scenes reference, it seems like a few things were embellished and while I’m usually a stickler for accuracy, I’m cool with their choices. Mother’s skeletal feet make for a cooler piece, and I’m not too bothered by throwing the shower scene dress over the cellar scene outfit instead of giving him woman’s shoes. What I am mainly concerned about is the sculpt and how much of a tweak it’s going to get. I do also think that his blazer/jacket thing should be included to improve the regular outfit, and the forearms & pegs should be painted. A little concerned with the fit of the regular outfit since we only have one standing upright full body pic, and he’s got the dress mostly covering it. It looks like the pants are properly sitting high above the waist, but I’d love to get a better look to see if it has that classic ‘50s cut. Those are the main things holding me back from completing my order.
Anyone been in touch with him about any of this? Any info?
