No, please no sculpted grooves! That will kill the realism and look weird.
I'm an amateur painter myself and succeeded to paint the make up on an SS sculpt without any guidelines, so it shouldn't be a big problem for a pro.

Super pumped for this sculpt!

Agreed, no grooves... his paint was not super precise or symmetrical so there is some wiggle room when painting and a bit open to interpretation. Groves just mean you have to be more precise with the paint as it will want to bleed into the grooves (both red and black) and will make it harder to look clean.

Any word on if the final sculpt will have the grooves or not... I see both in the newest photos.

Going to have to pass on this sorry, id buy it in a heart beat if it was painted but I can't invest in the sculpt and then find a painter talented enough to do this justice while not being expensive and having to wait all that time.

Is this 100% confirmed? I'm thinking about getting a second, if the funds permit, so I can just paint two and sell one. But I only want to do that if it comes without grooves.
Do you have any time window until when we have to put in our orders? So how much time would I have to consider a second one?

What I completely forgot to mention in the last post: awesome work by Jim on the head, and thank you so much for putting this together! Finally having a snarling Maul sculpt, especially of this caliber, was a dream. Another thing I can now cross off of my wishlist.
