Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

haha I'm sorry but I think we're at an impasse here. there's no convincing me that a Slim isn't the right choice for any Depp character. but again, I'll make my own final judgment when we see something of a prototype of it all together including the head. you make it seem like this figure is going to be nude or in skin tight clothing. It's going to be layered in clothing just like any other figure, and a sweater and jacket no less :lol

Slim looks just fine here and these clothes fit tighter than what we are expecting for good 'ol Boston George. I'll drop it now though and just let the voting take it's place and let it be :lol

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

The problem is there will be no prototype before payments are due. The way Yunsil works is I give her all the details reference pics information etc, tell her how many I expect to need, she gives me the price, I collect the payments and send them to her, then she produces a prototype which of course can be amended if needs be, then she commences with final production and ships them all to me. So sadly you either in or your not. It's not the best system I agree but it's the only way to keep these custom tailored outfits down in price from such a qualified and in demand tailor. It tends to work and isn't really a problem with Yunsil as her past work speaks for itself she virtually never if ever misses tbh. All her work is exceptional. So once we have a clear winner for the body type I will be sending that information to Yunsil and she will come back with a price. I'll open a 2-3 week window for everyone to get there payments in and then she will commence with the prototype and we go from there.

oh ok that makes sense. I apologize then. Well if I'm in the minority for the Slim, then lets just go with the narrow and get this party started! :rock:panic:

Like I've said from the very beginning, my vote is for the Slim

Now we just have to make Gipetto see reason!!

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

Sorry for the late chime in but I haven't been on the boards all day. I took a bunch of comparison pics on Friday but I haven't had the chance to post them all up and share my final thoughts . Will do in the morning. I will say this much, the out of the box Narrow definitely won't be a good choice; I don't think the out of the box Slim is necessarily the best thing either (but yes Gipetto, better than the Narrow :)) but there are Frankensteined options that will be the best of all worlds. Too late and too much to talk about right now

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

Gave my vote since day one via pm. Used the logic of what HT did Depp with. Easy vote. Slim all the way baby.

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

Haha ah the plot thickens ok Pop so your switching across to the slim? It has to be a stock body I'm afraid there is no way Yungsil will be able to frankestein together a perfect body for this that will be on us once the outfit arrives. So is it safe to assure Slim is the way to go?

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this project, looking forward to seeing how he turns out. Great choice of character.

Yes brother, that's what happened :lol

I've just been too busy to post the comparison that I did but in doing my little study I did come to the realization that for the most part you're right about the Slim. I haven't watched the movie in a while and I went back and skimmed thru it to pay attention to his physique. In my mind’s eye I guess I thought of Depp as a bigger guy; I know that he's thin but I guess he appeared taller in my memory than he actually is when I paid closer attention. I guess I associate the Slim with an even smaller guy than Depp but for an accessible, easily available body, the Slim would be the one :duff

After doing my homework, to me the Red Skull body is actually the best fit but I doubt that we'd be able to source enough for this run. I came to realize why you and I were conflicting on what body was what. You automatically associate the Slim with that specific chest piece with the smaller neck hole. I am familiar with that specific chest piece but I recognize the Slim first and foremost by its arms (because I can't stand them :lol). Hot Toys usually Frankensteins the bodies used for their regular releases and 8/10 times does not include the exact body that you'd get out of a packaged TT (even if it’s just to change the ankle to a taller one).

That's why I thought that a true Slim was never used on an official release but I stood corrected with some of the Depp characters and the DX02 (I don’t own any Depp characters except a sealed DX06). The thing that I hate about the Slims and Narrows are the ridiculously disproportionate arms. The upper arms are too small and the forearms are too long (and slightly too thick on the Narrow) which give it that orangutan feel and that slightly unnatural look when the arm is bent (mostly on the Slim; you can see what I mean in most of the pics you posted). The arm proportions are MUCH better on the Advanced/21, Bruce Lee, TTM19 and TTM20. This is something that HT has been tweaking lately when they use Narrow arms on an official release. They use the upper arm & shoulder of a Narrow but they use a smaller, thinner forearm then what you see on a packaged Narrow. The also redesigned the chest piece to have higher traps which give it a more natural (less boxy) shoulder slope. I'll call it the "improved Narrow".

So with that said Red Skull, Coulson & DX12 are not Slims. Red Skull has all of the Slim parts except it has "improved" Narrow arms/shoulders (which is why I didn't remember it has a Slim because it's buffer and wider). The only thing the DX12 has from the Slim is the chest-piece; the thighs are the size of a Narrow + thigh extender and it has the improved Narrow arms. There is nothing Slim about Coulson; he is on a complete “improved” Narrow including chest-piece and forearms.

These pics will help the rest of the voters be able to judge. Again, I changed my vote to a Slim. I realize that the improved Narrow ended up being a bit to big so the 18 or 21 are WAY too big for Mr. George.
Take a good look at the scene starting from the airport all the way to the end of the meeting with Escobar. Escobar would be the Narrow and you can see the size difference between that and the Slim

BRUCE LEE, TTM09 SLIM, RED SKULL, COULSON, TTM18 NARROW

SLIM & RED SKULL

SLIM, COULSON, RED SKULL

COULSON, TTM18

TTM18 NARROW, TTM09 SLIM (Escobar & George)

TTM21, TTM18 (both way too big)

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure

Awesome thanks for all the reference pics. I'm fairly certain now that the slim is the way to go :). Since it's currently winning the vote and the time I set has expired I've sent the info to Yungsil :). Also just waiting on a confirmation on the approx price of the outfit (will be the price providing she doesn't run into any unforeseen circumstances which may cause a small rise) once I have it I'll be opening up the 2-3 week payment window so we can get this rolling :)

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure UPDATE Outfit set price set!

@PopCultKid: we'll have to agree to disagree. a slim with difference biceps is still a slim in my book :lol

@Bullet: sweet! exciting times!

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure UPDATE Outfit set price set!

I wish that the Red Skull body was more accessible because that would've been a cure for the ape arms and still kept him thin and shorter but were going with the next best option so I'm sure the end results will be killer

!

Bigger biceps, bigger shoulders, bigger and better proportioned forearms and taller ankles = quite a different body (as the pics show), but sure; I'll agree to disagree :wink1:

Ok guys price for the outfit set is $200 payment window is now open and will remain open until the 17th March at midnight GMT. I will be sending out the PM's with payment information shortly.

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure UPDATE Outfit set price set!

Ok guy had zero payments so far and 5 drop outs :rotfl (well I did have one payment but sadly it needed to be refunded as not enough was included to cover the fees). I realise its early days but so far bar the drop outs only one person has got in touch letting me know when to expect payment. No pressure guys but I need to know now whether payment is coming from each of you before the window is up. If your out just let me know as it effects the others on the list who are in. I'm gonna have to speak to Yunsil as the price set is dependant on all 15 slots being taken.

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure UPDATE Outfit set price set!

Wow. Well at least you got the courtesy of confirmation from the drop outs. It's lame when people just drop out and don't have the decency to formally contact someone.

Well, I let you know when I was able to get payment in already but I'll do my best to do it sooner. It would be cool if we knew where the final head count stood and how the price will be affected (if at all)

Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure UPDATE Outfit set price set!

Nah Mike your good you've let me know payment will be in before the deadline :) I don't mind when payment comes long as it is within the window haha. Just to state everyone who has dropped out has been courteous and has let me know pretty quickly so its not the end of the world no problem with me, granted its a little dissapponting to have so many on my first project but what can you do.

Sadly one of the drop outs is a result of me having to refund a payment. If you can't do a gift payment no problem I understand there are quite a few countries who simply don't allow them but if your gonna send as good you MUST include enough to cover the fees. Even though that particular payment was less than 3 bucks down it makes no difference if your under the 200 even its coming back and you'll need to resend. Sadly as a result of said refund the individual dropped out (as is his right)
