Re: Blow (2001) George Jung aka "Boston George" Figure
wait...what? :lol
is that what just happened?? :lol
Yes brother, that's what happened :lol
I've just been too busy to post the comparison that I did but in doing my little study I did come to the realization that for the most part you're right about the Slim. I haven't watched the movie in a while and I went back and skimmed thru it to pay attention to his physique. In my mind’s eye I guess I thought of Depp as a bigger guy; I know that he's thin but I guess he appeared taller in my memory than he actually is when I paid closer attention. I guess I associate the Slim with an even smaller guy than Depp but for an accessible, easily available body, the Slim would be the one :duff
After doing my homework, to me the Red Skull body is actually the best fit but I doubt that we'd be able to source enough for this run. I came to realize why you and I were conflicting on what body was what. You automatically associate the Slim with that specific chest piece with the smaller neck hole. I am familiar with that specific chest piece but I recognize the Slim first and foremost by its arms (because I can't stand them :lol). Hot Toys usually Frankensteins the bodies used for their regular releases and 8/10 times does not include the
exact body that you'd get out of a packaged TT (even if it’s just to change the ankle to a taller one).
That's why I thought that a true Slim was never used on an official release but I stood corrected with some of the Depp characters and the DX02 (I don’t own any Depp characters except a sealed DX06). The thing that I hate about the Slims and Narrows are the ridiculously disproportionate arms. The upper arms are too small and the forearms are too long (and slightly too thick on the Narrow) which give it that orangutan feel and that slightly unnatural look when the arm is bent (mostly on the Slim; you can see what I mean in most of the pics you posted). The arm proportions are MUCH better on the Advanced/21, Bruce Lee, TTM19 and TTM20. This is something that HT has been tweaking lately when they use Narrow arms on an official release. They use the upper arm & shoulder of a Narrow but they use a smaller, thinner forearm then what you see on a packaged Narrow. The also redesigned the chest piece to have higher traps which give it a more natural (less boxy) shoulder slope. I'll call it the "improved Narrow".
So with that said Red Skull, Coulson & DX12
are not Slims. Red Skull has all of the Slim parts except it has "improved" Narrow arms/shoulders (which is why I didn't remember it has a Slim because it's buffer and wider). The only thing the DX12 has from the Slim is the chest-piece; the thighs are the size of a Narrow + thigh extender and it has the improved Narrow arms. There is nothing Slim about Coulson; he is on a complete “improved” Narrow including chest-piece and forearms.
These pics will help the rest of the voters be able to judge. Again, I changed my vote to a Slim. I realize that the improved Narrow ended up being a bit to big so the 18 or 21 are WAY too big for Mr. George.
Take a good look at the scene starting from the airport all the way to the end of the meeting with Escobar. Escobar would be the Narrow and you can see the size difference between that and the Slim
