Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- NEW WIP Added

Looks really good Johnny. I can't see anything that needs fixing. You really have nailed the likeness:clap

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- NEW WIP Added

On second inspection, the eyes should be less 'squinty' at the corners

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

JOhnny you have outdone yourself and this far surpasses my exceptions :clap:clap

However I know you want this to be perfect so there are two things I noticed.

The crease in the corer of the eye is a bit too dominant that’s why it appears squinty. Any chance you can make it a bit softer and maybe have 2 small creases instead of the 1?

The other thing is the back of the jaw. This is hard to explain and I will post some pictures when I get home to show you want I mean.
I think the back of the jaw needs to be a narrower so it shows less on the front view. Also the middle part of the jaw needs to be a bit squarer. The chin looks awesome but behind that it looks a bit chubby.

I feel so bad criticizing this as you have done a exceptional job but I would say at the moment its 98% and these changes would make it 100% :peace

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

Now I feel like a bit of a douche... I commented in the other thread thinking this was still a WIP. Nothing mean I promise, but for some reason in the straight on and turned to the left image I don't see as much Bakula.

But the middle one looks just about spot-on. So not really sure what's throwing it for me off since I thought the previous WIP looked great :huh

In looking more I think maybe the brow line is now a bit sharper (more angular) than it was on the previous ones.

I agree a bout the jaw, perhaps a slightly higher hair line as well. The face just seems too fat, it may just be the way the photos turned out though.

Here are some profile views if they help

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

After comparing the sculpt with reference pictures for the last two hours this is what I have come up with.

Please excuse more crude diagram :lol

I have put the original under so you can see the differences.

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt-WIP Added

I think the reason as galactiboy said in the other thread something looks off in the latest pic is because the jaw in the wip was squarer and slimmer so looked more like sam

Thanks Pete; one for offering even more of a critique than me so I don't feel so bad :lol

But in seriousness I think you are spot-on with what seems different to me.

That’s ok but I feel bad for being picky :(

Tbh I would have been happy as long as it has even slight resemblance to Sam and this far surpasses that . But I want JOhnny to make a nice bit of profit from this as he has worked hard and the best way of doing that is to make this likeness spot on.

I hope no offence is taken sometimes it’s nice to have a pair of fresh eyes to notice any needed changes :peace

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

The cheeckbones are what's the most off for me. They look too wide, sort of puffy. Need a bit more angle, sallow a bit. Makes his face look too round overall. Throws off the rest of the otherwise pretty close sculpt.

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

It's just cool the artist is open to critiques... makes the process much better and less worrisome :duff

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

Awesome guys, thanks so much for chipping in, I knew I wasn't seeing things, haha. I am very aware of those changes, it's funny but it's after I take pics. I should be taking more pics I guess, hehe.

I will take a second look at the thread for the critiques and change what's needed.

I am actually using ALL pics Pete gave me, I think I should use a few for reference instead :p

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

I’m glad you have taken this all onboard just need some fine tuning and it will be perfect :rock

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

Ok guys, here's the sculpt with all of the changes, if I left out something let me know. What do you think ?

Please know that this is based on a younger version of Scott, it's funny but when he was younger he had like a puffy face somehow, compared to the older Scott around enterprise. Like my friend Ramon (Arsyn) said "that guy has a camel face", lol.

I need to reshape a little his left eye, soften the wrinkles, add details, fix eyebrows. I now see that he has too much cheeks, so I'm going to put him through a diet. Scott has a weird shape, his face varies from picture to picture, haha.

Anyways, yeah, I'm all ears.

Looks a lot better JOhnny, great work:clap

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

Something looks off about the hair, but then again I haven't seen your reference pic. I'm sure Pete will be able to spot the changes (that is if he needs any)

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

Since no one had said anything about the hair, I just did a random hairdo based on all pics I've seen XD

Re: Cheungkinmen Quantum leap Sam Beckett head sculpt- Finished sculpt (pending appro

:lol then that must be it. I don't know, it just looks strange (and this is after watching an episode). But I know Pete wanted a season 5 look, so maybe you've nailed it and I'm just referring to an earlier season hairdo
