Just looking at this again, that bottom bevel may be for a pinky finger to make a better purchase, as the top bevel is for the thumb.

So are we trying to say there's an indentation in the bottom of the grip?

I don't think there is any surrey of indentation on the bottom of the gun. I've found images of the screen used stunt prop and although the front is rounded the bottom doesn't have any specific detail like that to it.

Thanks for the prop pics, @DoggieDoc🙏🏻

I just rewatched the 2 scenes where we see the gun most clearly in the film.
DoggieDoc is correct, it’s not an indentation.
It was just shine reflecting off the grip.

It’s amazing how the lighting for different scenes can muck things up. I would have thought those were two different guns. To my eye, the one in gcard’s photos appears have a blued frame, while the screen used photos appear to have a stainless frame. I know that stunt props aren’t always as detailed as their close up counterparts, but I have to believe the frame color would be something that would match.

Good catch @gcard76 !

And one other thing to mention. If we're to believe the stunts prop is meant to match the overall characteristics of the real gun then the grips on both sides are different. The grip on the left side should have the indentation for the thumb while the grip on the right side should be rounded outward more, both with the same overall "arching" shape. Varied grips on the left versus the right is actually very common for many guns so this would make sense.

And in response to the color yes my plan was to make it more of the silver look versus blued.

Nice work, guys.👍 Much appreciate both of you in your help and expertise.

It’s hard to tell from screencaps, but when you see the scene play out, it’s easy to see there is no indentation.
Just the wood grip reflecting light.

And, yes, the stethoscope is amazing!
picture frame is awesome too.

Ok here is the updated 3D model. Changes I have made:

- Rounded the front of the grip overall
- Added the thumb indentation on the left side
- Added the rounded top of the grip on the right side (to match the left, but minus the indentation)
- Added the grip tap on the front and back f the grip

If this all looks good I would love to get this in the printer right now. It is small and will be done in only a couple hours... which means I could potentially paint this today. Let me know guys.

I’m not sure if this is helpful or not, but here’s what the back of the grip looks like on a real model 85:

In this case, the grips are two pieces held in place by two screws running through the butt frame and connecting the grips on either side. We don’t see any grip tape in the back - it’s the back of the frame that protrudes from between the two grip pieces.

Again, not sure if this is helpful.

So I have to disagree with you here. Based on the prop weapon it is clearly grip tape on the back. And so I would believe it is covering up the rear spine of the metal portion of the fun handle.

The other thing is though looking at other examples of the same gun is good GENERAL reference I never ever base what I model off something that was not on screen. There are often far too many variations and nuances, particularly to what they modify for on screen use, that you can't assume what you find in a non-screen used reference is a real match to screen used items. If I can't tell exactly what is onscreen then I may use a general reference to get the overall right shapes and whatnot, but I will still use on screen reference or screen-used props only for the "final call" as it were.

I have already printed the new grip as I got no response way earlier and I wanted to get a new print going. At this point I am comfortable calling it accurate.

Might do a little painting this evening to finish the gun. Stay tuned 😊

Al that's left then, is the stethoscope case. Plus whatever fun packaging I can come up with!

Please remind me how many sets we will eventually need? Now that I'm completing the prototypes I can get pricing squared away. Thanks.

Exciting news, thank you @DoggieDoc!

It’s going to be a great looking set🤩

Not trying to be “that guy”, but is the framed picture of the parents in scope?
I don't know what you mean by "in scope". There are no reference images that show the full photo.. so I'm still trying to figure that out. Not sure if that's what you're referring to.

I was just asking if it was still going to happen as an accessory. I know it wasn’t mentioned when you posted what was remaining, so I just thought I’d ask to find out for sure.

I knew there were issues finding a full image of the photo, but I also recalled that you were working on the frame at one time or another, as well.

Again, I was just trying to understand what was included in the accessories, that’s all.

Ahh.. yes the frame is 100% part of it!
