Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry!!!

hey guys, I saw the first few posts and noticed you needed minimum 15, so can I be the lucky 15th member of the project? haha
also, I didn't know projects take this long, almost a year to get started! I would be really happy to be part of this:yess:
I wish there is more funny characters are being done even if they are custom made, Just imagine a Michael Scott from The Office or Seinfeld, the Kings of comedy all in one place, a man can dream haha. definetly love the early sketches by Creg Customs! awesome work and I'm really happy I joined this forum.
sorry for talking so much hah.

Welcome to the customs section! I agree on the comedy figures, Seinfeld would be great.

Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry!!!

I finally caught up on this thread and my two biggest concerns are: glasses and shoes. I have no objections whatsoever to the cost of making the glasses. I don't want it made in resin...they don't look good and they break very easily. I'm quite surprised Robbie won't make the glasses for this given that he already made glasses for other figures like taxi driver, that weird dude I can't remember the name that's played by johnny depp and various of other characters. Those looked complicated to make also so I don't get it why he won't make for this one? Oh well. Glasses for Larry will be a challenging project for sure.

As for the tennis shoes...the specific ones that Larry wore isn't readily available in 1/6 unless I missed something? Might want to consider having a special order of sculpted shoes that's accurate to the look of the ones he wore on the show?

As for the outfit...I seriously hope there's good ones available to buy that would look nice on the body and not making it look puffy or poorly made. Have you considered an outfit run?

Didn't realize shoes were an issue. No problem. I'm about to do Rick Grimes boots and Joker shoes so why not? LOL

The top shows Larry's shoes... the rest are all available 1/6th! The middle ones... in white... I think are good options! with a little paint, they'd look really good! I'm happy to have "good" shoes and find generic clothes. The glasses are gonna be a thing. I'm not giving up!! NOBODY should!!!! we're SO CLOSE!!!!!!

Hey Gooflkd!! I saw your post... but forgot to update... so now it has been done!!! Welcome... and THANKS!!! you have now been added!!

Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry!!!

I wonder what other style shoes he wears throughout the show? The picture you posted definitely shows a suede with distinct lines on the toe, almost like the adidas shell toe.

Oh that's great there's some shoes we can get that we'll have to make a few changes to it for example sanding down to get rid of the Nike logo on that white shoes which you're right seems to come pretty close to what Larry wore. Sounds good to me. Too bad it won't come in suede though!

I passed on this project for a couple of reasons.
First, is I didn't feel I could make them in scale using my techniques. The whole structure is supported by a very thin center bridge. The materials I use wouldn't be strong enough to keep its shape. I would need to increase the size which would make them look strange. They could be made of metal but hand making each one would take a lot of work and would result in inconstancy. This wouldn't be acceptable to today's collectors and would drive me crazy. And secondly I don't have any interest in this character. I have a small window of time to work on things and so I have to choose things that I enjoy. I'm not like other makers who just take any project. It has to be important to me first.

I really appreciate that you went out of your way to respond to my post and explain your reasons. Thank you. As for your reasoning, that is totally understandable and I get what you're saying. I don't ever question your technique, Robbie, because you do an astonishingly job on all of the products you did. Your talented artwork amazes me and I am a big fan of your work. [emoji1303]

Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry!!!

I'm going with the silver frames from the (very old) Hot Toys "Eyeswear" set. The frames are more circular than Larry's, but anyone who looks that close and has the nerve to say anything is my beloved Aunt.
