Just to be clear I'm in no matter what. Really looking forward to having a full figure now, I really want this one on a shelf. I'm extremely disappointed that everyone's dropping of the list though. I believe this is why there are so few star wars projects in the interest threads section.

Glad to hear you're sticking with it Raul. I'm disappointed as well, but I understand. $485 is a lot of cash. But me being a hardcore Star Wars fan, especially the expanded universe, I have to have this figure.

So it's $465 all in for an unpainted kit or $485 for a full figure with bells and whistles? Plus $60 per cathode lightsaber? Sorry, just trying to confirm the price and work out what I can sell to stay on board :lol

Yep, and that doesn't even include the box. All in all, the full figure would be the better deal. Plus with the unpainted kit, you have to glue all the buckles and armor to the harness yourself. As previously mentioned, it is expensive, but in the end it's the better deal.

Guess i have to pull out too.. as i can't afford the price of $485.. im sorry

Really disappointed that so many people are dropping out and missing a sure to be amazing figure. I understand though. Money doesn't grow on trees. Hopefully we don't lose too many more. I'd hate to drop this project.

It is a shame, the amount of detail and work needed on this figure is staggering so it warrants a higher price however it is a lot of money unfortunately.

Whilst I would love this figure the $485 plus $130 (total $615) for the cathode sabers is proving prohibitive :( I've looked into what I can afford along side other projects, time frame etc and I just can't manage it so I will have to back out as well, I am sorry.

Cathode saber hilts are included with the full figure though..

I know nothing about working with electrical and lighting and the hilts are made ready for you to insert the lights. Katkuru made some really nice lights and they average about $60 or so for each one I believe.

Sorry I mean for the lights as per IDM's post a few pages back.

The cathode saber price John quoted was from katkuru's custom Luke ESB sabers. They were (are?) limited to ten with a waitlist of ten. I asked a while ago about sculpted hilts specifically because it isn't "too" hard or expensive to make cold cathode sabers. There is a degree of difficulty, but all that's needed to finish up the hilts would be a dual 6 inch cold cathode kit (depending on color $6-15), a drill to hollow the hilt, and some patience to do some soldering. For reference katkuru made a fantastic tutorial on how to make them years ago.

I love the character and will move forward regardless. I quoted the final figure lower hoping that people wouldn't drop out, but I think we all know it's an insane amount of work and I always approach each figure I make the same way with as much detail as is possible. That's the large appeal of these 1/6 figures.

I will definitely try to add cathode lights to mine. I just don't feel comfortable enough to do them until I've perfected them and the initial plan was just to do the head only, but now it's turn into a massive endeavor. :D

At least you know Cleveland and I aren't dropping out. Everybody has that one character on their grail list this one is mine.:D

Aaaaaaaaaaaah I see, I got confused :slap

Great to see this still moving forward, I'm hoping my situation improves by the time this launches, but if not I can't wait to see how this comes together! The rig alone I think will be mind blowing! :hi5:

Been working on this sculpt for more than two weeks and he's at the point where I'm pretty happy with how he looks. I'll probably tweak him a little bit more, but I think he's ready for the next step. I'll get him ready for a molding and painting test next.

How are you towards constructive criticism? I looked at the pictures a little bit and had that "something's off" feeling. The side shots look great and the eye and nose placement are fantastic, but the nostrils and mouth are a bit too big and from the nose down is too long. It really does look good though, and I love seeing some tangible progress.

Raul, thanks for the comments. I definitely want comments because when you're staring at this stuff day in and day out, it's hard to unsee what is done.

Here are the two pics I used mostly for the sculpt.

I'll work on him a bit more and I see what you mean about the nose being a little big. Another thing to keep in mind is that silicone shrinks horizontally so I usually sculpt the face slightly wider to let it shrink in from side to side so that should slim his features in a little also.

I always tend to forget about shrinkage. That might actually "fix" the nose. I photoshop-ed up a mashup to illustrate what I meant by his chin being too long. I'll email it. I do like the sculpt though, there aren't any true dealbreakers because the likeness is there. Got to love progress!

Wow! This was a very pleasant surprise to see. Those pics look amazing John. Everything looks spot on to me aside from the nose being slightly bigger as Raul pointed out. I think we have a great figure on our hands.
