Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

I think if we ask her to add some material, just to pad the middle, so that she has an idea of how wide the clothing should be, we will be ok.

Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

Right so I just got a message from Mike about the Ompa body.

According to mike the body is perfect as it is.... He has it in hand.
Also Yunsil sent me a message as soon as she gets the ompa body she will drop me a message with schedule start date. Hopefully soon :)

So, just to clarify, Yunsil will not taper the outfit according to the shape of the narrow waist, but rather the outfit will be wide enough at the waist to add some padding if we choose to?

I don't think she would because the actual outfits don't taper, it's just something to caveat. Rocco actually nailed the anatomy pretty well. The top of the overalls is above where the taper in the waist is, and then it curves out into those weird hip bumps, so it should be ok. I never understood those hip bumps as a kid lol.

I am glad to see that the gears are movin! I am excited to see what MG comes up with! When are we scheduled for him to begin work? I know he is a busy fella. Also is Mike5401 our cane maker?

Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

Agreed with what you said bud Yunsil will do a fantastic job..... I am sticking with the neckless sculpt however maybe changing bodies me and mike are discussing this atm. We've found some decent bodies so neck posts would t have to be changed or painted and the hands would be useable haha!

Thanks for reminding me bud yes he is our cane maker I need to reply to his message so will do that now. No idea on price yet

A new body may not be super necessary..... I dunno about everyone else but I have quite a few truetype necks and default hands kicking around from various bashes that I have done. Plus isn't the kumik already in route to yunsil?

I bought 4 kumik slims for a ghostbuster bash I did. They work just fine with hot toys neck posts. But I am curious what other body options you are exploring.

Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

I don't have any extra neck post or hands that would work (at least not that I know of), so coming as close as possible without having to look for alternative pieces would be preferred.

Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

It's more to do with the fact that the bodies are a decent price kumik for 13 bodies is $250 free shipping and here's the other body I'm thinking about https://www.vantagecollectibles.com/enfuse-action-sixth-scale-base-body/

Yunsil has the body as it's a body she tailors too how ever that's 1 of the many..... Apart from being being a cheap decent body free shipping I was thinking about the layer of clothing making it bulky. I used one a while back for a kitbash and it was good my only concern is you guys shouldn't have to swap the neck posts etc.

Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

As far as the tapering/cut of the outfit, I wouldn't assume anything when it comes to another person doing the work. As long as Yunsil knows what we are looking for, we should be fine, but she needs to be aware of the look we are after.

Have no worries she knows from the last one she did the look we'd like.... My suggestion is I'll give her guidance regarding the look and see how she does for the proto if things need fixing then we can adjust it :)

As for the neck my suggestion would be too paint the kumik neck if she's tailoring to it. Tbh it's not gonna show that much because if the collar etc I have about 10 sets of hands hands aren't an issue they are cheap and easy to find. I think I may possibly stick to Kumiks.

The only thing I fault Kumik for.... if we do paint them is that there is a hard seam on the side of the neck. The bodies are cheap for a reason haha. The hands also have the hard edges on them, although I agree that buying new hands is the way to go on this one. The "Default" hands just never work well, unless you want a generic hand pose... or have him holding a gun. I bought a set of Ryo Saeba hands on ebay, it has an absolutely perfect Gobstopper holding hand (right and left) as well as a possible cane holding one.

Painting the neck also adds the whole concern of rubbing the paint off on it. That is why from the get go I have been a bigger fan of having a head with a neck attached. I generally don't even prefer it when HT offers figures that way.

Re: Candyman & Friend (Mr Wonka): Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by M

Is there an added expense from Mike to sculpt this with a neck? I think the realism of the neck, smooth transition to the body, no seams, color matching, etc., is to me more important than posing the head with a slight tilt. I can only speak for myself on this issue. Can Mike produce a necked version for those who want one and then cut it off for those who don't?

A sculpted neck would make any body work without the added hassle of shopping for a new body, painting, etc. I always prefer a sculpted neck whenever possible. Articulated necks always look fine from the front, but I always hate them from the side.

Re: Candyman & Friend - Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by MG!

Quick question what expressions could we do for wonka? Mike isn't too keen on the normal look because it looks too much like rainmans so we'd like to throw it out there and see what you guys can come up with?

If you'd like to keep the normal look then it's cool but we'd rather not make it look like rainmans. Please post pics :)

That WIP looks great. Mike has captured the longer face. As was mentioned earlier, two looks would be awesome if Mike was willing. The standard look and something more scene specific. I don't think anyone will confuse the basic look with RM's version. His was very soft with large eyes and didn't really capture the Gene Wilder persona.

I feel like his side smirk is the true iconic expression. it is on all DVD covers and press material. I feel like the likeness can be nailed and still not look like Rainman. He always makes that face when he is neutral. Otherwise he just looks grumpy and we don't want that either. The only other thing I could think of it to make the smile bigger and be reflected more in the eyes.

You could also show Teeth in his smile, but I also think that would be exceptionally hard to pull off. It would look amazing though.

Looking at all the photo's online, there are many neutral looks and many extreme looks, with not much in between. Gene was very expressive in the movie, either while talking to the kids, tasting something on the tour, etc. Then he showed his calm side with the neutral expressions. I know the first one is a repeat of what we have already been looking at, just included it for comparison. Here are some good one's I came across:
