Re: Candyman & Friend - Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by MG! New pic

I don't care if he looks like Rainmans or doesn't look like Rainmans. The goal here is for him to look like Gene Wilder and that is what is important.

If it looks like the RM then it is not looking like Wilder.

this the way to go, lets not over think anything here

Sorry but that is rather dull. I think it would be a shame, after all the work going into this project, that we would end up with a figure as lifeless as the RM one.

That's why I was suggesting a smiling sculpt, but this photo is the most widely used / popular for sure.

I don't know Mike's schedule, but maybe he would be willing to do two sculpts and see how they come out?

Re: Candyman & Friend - Monty productions Clothes by Yunsil new sculpt by MG! New pic

I disagree the straight on photo is all about the eyes and its not lifeless, its a straight face hiding a lot of stuff going on in Wonka's slightly mixed up head. For me, what makes the character so appealing is whats lies behind the eyes, not the emotion on his face - you can't trust that.

Could not have said it better, agree 100%.

Re: Candyman & Friend

I think we go with the smirk and see what magic comes of it. MG will be able to capture it pretty well.

Is there any way we could offer a sculpted neck and a non necked option for people? Not two sculpts for everyone… but letting people choose? I really would prefer having a neck to not worry about painting a body, etc. I also am not a fan of the neck seam.

Obviously we disagree on how character is represented by the sculpt - which is ok.

Re: Candyman & Friend

I just noticed that the first post now says the Wonka clothing is being made by a mystery person. Did I miss a memo? :dunno

Re: Candyman & Friend : Epic surprises in store!

WIP pics of CM. I'm still working on the mouth, eyes and hat. Will smooth, then add texture back for the final cast. Shoes won't take too long so this should be ready to go soon. feedback is welcome.

WOW! Looks amazing already man!

Re: Candyman & Friend : Epic surprises in store!

Its looking really good so far! The face shape and smirk are looking strong! It also has life to it, which is what we all feared would be hard to capture.

There is something about the eye shape that is hitting me, I am not sure what. You said you are working on the eyes so it may not even matter haha. The hat size is looking really good as well, I look forward to seeing it with the iconic brim! Is the ribbon on the hat being sculpted on? or is that something we are adding to the hat after with real ribbon, etc?

I can't wait to see what magic occurs on the oompa loompa!

Thanks! I'll spend a lot more time refining the eyes (eye shape, lids, eyebrows, etc.).

Looking forward to the Oompa as well.

Consider me crazy... heck it even could look horrible but is it possible to hair the sideburns onto it instead of sculpting? I don't know the limitations, etc of it haha. It even could look really bad, but I just thought it would be fun to discuss.

Re: Candyman & Friend : Epic surprises in store!

Re: Candyman & Friend : Epic surprises in store!

This is really turing out to be what I had expected way back when. Getting very excited for what is to come.
