Re: Candyman & Friend : Epic surprises in store!

I'm glad to hear it i was hoping to restore faith in this project I should of had Mikes the sculpter in the 1st place :)
I'm hyped too! I'm working on the boxes and COA design it's all coming together well!

FYI : We may have the actual vest pattern from the film thanks to a friend of ours..... No promises on that but it is possible :)

Pattern as in Flowers? or Pattern as in the actual fabric cuts to make the vest? Either scenario is cool! Thats a hard one to nail. I can take some grabs of him in the office scene if we need some ref photos of cut, etc if we need more.

The actually vest pattern if I can get a solid pic of the vest then I can possibly get that scanned for the fabric printing..... Was discussing this with the seamstress, I do have 2 other vest patterns that could possibly work.

If you get chance shoot me an email with the screens Jon. :)

Need other outfit references too? or Just the vest?

Re: Candyman & Friend : Epic surprises in store!

The reference photo we have been referring to for the sculpt has a great up close view of the vest pattern and coloring, especially the silver piping. On my iPad, when enlarged, it is very detailed.

I think we are talking not just the flower pattern, but mores the cut / fit of the vest itself. Fortunately in his office he takes off his coat so you can see it on all angles. I am going to be emailing a TON of stills to godfather for all aspects of the outfit. I had no idea but the liner of his Jacket actually has a design on it as well. He certainly was one ornate character haha.

It is hard to tell from the one updated sculpt photo, but is the hat an oval shape like it is in the film? In my reference folders I also included a ton of hat shots.

I never realized his jacket lining also had some sort of crazy embroidered design on it as well haha. Godfather, I just emailed you a MASSIVE pile of tailoring reference stills from the film for Wonka and Oompa.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions : Epic surprises in store!

I think the way projects should go is whoever runs the project or whoever is involved with the project to be "not on the list" due to them getting one automatically.
That would leave 3 open spots on this one. Just a thought

The number exists solely because the artists behind various elements have restrictions in what they want to comission. Since they juggle many different projects, they have to place limitations. So those limitations don't allow extras for the figure makers. I was in your shoes almost a year ago trying to get onto a list of 30... A lot changed since then haha. It's been quite the road huh guys? Lol. It will be well worth it in the end.

I never noticed the interior of the jacket either. Probably the least of my concerns with the clothing, but would be an added bonus. I'm wondering if done, how much thickness it would add to the jacket?

Surprisingly not a lot! Look at the various hot toys joker figures.... They are all lined. This one will definitely need to be, it's a matter of fabric choice for the inside.

Ahhhh ok I see.....well it's coming out great with the new sculpt.
Next time I'll have to look better on here for certain projects

Had to leave no detail up for question haha. I am surprised when Profiles in History sold the Wonka costume that they did not take super thorough pictures of the linings, etc. Anyone see the show called Hollywood Treasure? It was on Netflix a while ago and they had a cool wonka episode where they tracked down props from the film.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions : Epic surprises in store!

Have you seen their downloadable PDF catalogues with all the Wonka gear it it? It's a blast looking through some of the stuff they get to sell.

Oh god I love those things, it makes me fantasize about what I would do if I had infinite amounts of money lol. I liked the show because he would go and visit the people who would buy and sell that stuff. It would be my dream job to work at that place. The show was a perfect compliment to those catalogs, such an easy show to watch too. I hope that show eventually comes back.

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions : Epic surprises in store!

Did any of these shows have the cane?

Definitely not from what I remember. I remember the host of the show going to the directors house and all he had to contribute was a script and the iconic top hat. He also visited Veruca salt and acquired a gobstopper and a screen used golden ticket. I was considering checking the behind the scenes stuff on the blu ray to see if it turns up, but I doubt it.

At least we know what shape / color and relative design it is.... we just do not know whats in the center. I say we take a liberty and just put a wonka W in it, if that even would show up haha.

As far as his vest pattern goes, I pulled a ton of blu ray stills, but I think the best reference for that pattern is images people took of the screen used vest at comic con. Some of them are super high res. What are we doing for buttons on the vest?

Re: Candyman & Friend Monty Productions : Epic surprises in store!

Quick question mike5401 is doing the cane 3D printing the cane and is working in it what would the correct size be?

I thought about 6 inches.... Is that right?

I would say 6" is right on the mark. The cane comes up to his hip, which in 1/6 terms would be 6" ish.
