Good point. I guess do your best to protect the handful that knows of the source. But who am I to talk, I'm still on the waitlist. LOL

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Axe is going about this the right way. It's a sorry state of affairs but he is 100% right it is virtually impossible to stop the recasters. The best he can do is make sure as many people as possible can get this at the source.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

If all the casts were made out of C4, and fused to explode shortly after delivery, then you could probably cut down on the recasting of them.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Do you know when we may see a paint test Axe?

Thanks.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Hopefully by the end of this month.

lol signing the back of the neck.... the only dilemma is that the artist wants to remain anonymous. so whats the point?

Forgot about that part, well he wouldn't have use his signature I guess just a complicated symbol that no one else uses or could replicate easy to know it's let.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Hand number engrave them individually. That way, no 2 sculpt are alike.

Yeah I was thinking of something thing like that to but wouldn't numbers be easier to copy other than symbols? :dunno

In my opinion the only way to combat recasters is to make the unpainted HS available to anyone interested in buying and at a competitive price.

Now exclusiveness in these HS should be the paint job. make 15-30-whatever painted and charge accordingly.

Collectors will want the sculptors paintjob especially if it is awesome. Painters will want to paint these. People who have a preference in painter can go that route.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Say it costs them $10 to recast, if you sell the unpainted cast for $60, the recaster can still price it at $40 and make a profit. Since it's not their artwork, they're less inclined to price it as a point where they feel that it's worth to them. Also, selling on ebay opens up to a lot of collectors not on forums, so we really can't combat against recasting :( The only way to combat recasting is sell it for stupid amounts of money so only the hardcore of the hardcore buy it, and it's really unlikely they'll condone to recasting. And features like rooted hair deter recasting right? I mean, how DO you recast something with rooted hair? shave it bald?

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

It still won't stop recasting, but it would keep those of use in the know coming back to the source, and thus rewarding those who invested time/money in making the heads, as opposed to going to shady recasters. Of course, some of us (self included) wouldn't support Q or anyone like him in any scenario, but many clearly would and do. This is the group that could be affected by following the current Rainman approach. I think they would pay $10-20 more to get a nice official cast over that overpriced junk Q sells.

OK say he does charge that low.

He's not making $100 per sculpt like he is now

Take some HI-DEF Pictures of the Sculpts and add a watermark so Q doesn't grab it for themselves. Then sell some on Ebay so buyers can see the difference between the low quality recast and the Iminime ones. You don't have to put a numbered COA but a small card that says its Authentic.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

I know if this were me a year ago, I would have no clue about this section and I would be on ebay, see a recast, not realize that its not genuine and pay for it.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

someone who is ignorant of the source sculpt wont even know that certificates were issued, so I dont think its a deterrent.

Yup. I think one of the biggest problems with recasting is people are ignorant to the whole processes. Your average buyer who stumbles on a sculpt on ebay isn't going to know the difference between an authentic sculpt and a recast. For the most part members here are really good about calling recasters out and spreading the word, but 1/6 is a lot bigger than SSF.

Since BobbyC's Joker sculpt, which is the most expensive sculpt I've ever come across in 1:6 so far, has been recasted and is currently being sold by Q on ebay, it seems even that doesn't help anymore.
Although, now that I think about it, Adam's Joker sculpts are probably more expensive that the BobbyC head nowadays, and those haven't been recasted yet. So yeah, if the price is in the thousands, that seems to work. :lol

Seems to have worked. you have a small enough list of people it woukd be dumb for someone in the small list to have it recasted.

to price a HS high it has to have that Wow factor. it can't be 80% likeness it has to be 100%
