uh oh, i see that Odell got wind of this and is talking about it on OSR...sigh...this might be recasted if we are not careful :(

Honestly nothing can stop that... there will continue to be ghost accounts, unscrouplous members within the community, as well as people who might just be wolves in sheep clothing.
Maximum I can do is ensure whoever wants one painted sculpt legitimately gets one...

Maybe issue a certificate for these. I know it won't stop collectors who doesn't care about recast to get one, but at least it reduces the chance of the seller to sell one and saying it is authentic.

That's true! Doesn't even have to be numbered! Just something to show authenticity so people who do resell this later can sell to people who wants to pay money for a legitimate piece, not a recast.

Yeah, the sculptor should sign the painted sculpt in Sharpie across the forehead, to guarantee authenticity.

I know you are joking but they could sign the back of the neck like Arnie Kim sometimes does with his hand made figures like this.

I don't think that would be such a bad idea.

The sad truth.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Yeah, its a pity, but if there's an unscrupulous person that is willing to allow someone to cast this head there is nothing that can be done about it. Signing at the back of the neck might be cool as a one off rare figure, but I think most people here would take issue with it. I'm not against it though. Even then though, someone would still try to replicate it.

Funny how no one has ever casted Adam's Joker's heads, probably because there isn't many around, since he charges a lot for them. Right now there is a Bobby C Joker head resin recast on ebay, unpainted of course.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

Authenticity purposes yes a certificate or sculpt "brand" would be ideal, but regardless people will still recast and people will still buy those recasts because they don't care.

Im sure because it has to do with his prices. To buy one you have to pay a crazy amount of money. Only someone who thinks he can make a LOT of money by selling unpainted casts of that sculpt can dare to recast a sculpt of that price range. That price range and huge waiting time ensures pure collectors who dont want to 'share' per se. People who buy for the quality and the extreme exclusivity.

Yeah I would agree with all that. Those who pay a fortune for these want them not only because they are accurate but also for the prestige of having something so sort after. Thus, I can see why they would not want to recast or share them per se because they will no longer have that is very hard to get.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

well the coa could never prevent recasting but it will prevent people who sell the recast from fetching top prices from unknowing buyers...just like the best they can do i guess.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt (Updated with New Pics on 1st Po

someone who is ignorant of the source sculpt wont even know that certificates were issued, so I dont think its a deterrent.
