Yeah, I saw that - annoying.

This is only a small barrier, but it could be something - do the big painters on this board have a policy against painting recasts? I know there are a lot of options available, but if some of the best painters wouldn't do it, we could at least take solace that the recasts would look crappier than usual without (a lot of) great painting options.

Since BobbyC's Joker sculpt, which is the most expensive sculpt I've ever come across in 1:6 so far, has been recasted and is currently being sold by Q on ebay, it seems even that doesn't help anymore.
Although, now that I think about it, Adam's Joker sculpts are probably more expensive that the BobbyC head nowadays, and those haven't been recasted yet. So yeah, if the price is in the thousands, that seems to work. :lol

Adam's is definitely much more expensive than Bobby's.

Makes sense. Probably not a coincidence that soon that got sold, then pop comes a new recasted Bobbyc sculpt.

The only one more expensive than Bobby C's currently is the Cop Joker/ Interrogation sculpt that he gave to Kato. His older one's(before Kato sculpt) do not recasted because there are only a few around. Some are better than others but I don't think anyone would pay the same high price for his laughing joker or those other older ones he did before the one he made for Kato, which is nearly dead on likeness.

Ok first let me address that I’m a fellow collector and have been on the freaks for almost 3yrs now….bought amazing figures and statues from this site. I have to honestly say that it is starting to make me sick to see the constant nagging and rants and complaints over these recasts. Its never going to stop and this Q person everyone keeps nagging about will continue to recast because he is making a large amount of money and it seems and his business is growing. There are people on here that are giving him sculpts….and that will not stop. I know some collectors on here that have bought from him and the heads were painted by top artists…..then they have displayed them over and over on here and I have seen the same collectors (PopCultKid, Bullet, and others) express how they loved their figure and display. You guys talk about how crappy the sculpt looks yet you can’t even tell what is a recast and the actual sculpt. Walter White has been displayed all over this site….and continues to pop up. Do you really think someone is going to pay $200 for the original or get a recast and get it painted by one of the few painters on here that are very well known? They are doing it….its just kept on the low….but no one is turning any cash down because of the few collectors on here that have an issue with recasting. Plus IF YOU REALLY THINK that the best paint artists are on this site then you are wrong. There are very talented paint artists outside of the freaks that can paint very well and will paint just about anything. The artists who made these sculpts have a choice….sell their head sculpts or wait for them to get recasted eventually. Rainman has always sold his heads and has done pretty well by doing so. The DX Clint head should have been offered to the public and it wasn’t because it was that special item. Well he got a hold of it and pretty much made a nice little fortune from it. Now I don’t get involve in the crap that goes on in here because its ever day you guys cry about it. Now whoever the guy was that did this you tube video came out and actually stated who gave the guy the Clint head and instead of asking or gathering some more facts and asking questions you guys defend the person because they are well known here. So if you don’t take that look into it at least….then quit talking about Q and ebay and who is selling what….you have no right to complain if you did nothing when a name was given to the public. Regardless if the person is well known….it should have been looked into….I have seen people banned on this site right away and no questions asked. I refuse to do this on my own screen name because I don’t want to be banned for voicing my opinion or get trolled. Fact is a lot of collectors on here are getting tired of threads being trashed because some folks want to throw up what Q is selling on ebay….WHO CARE’S…..MOVE ON FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!!!! We have one issue that should be the main concern and that is the individual who took people’s money and never painted their heads….Drako or Darko was the name…..and that still needs to be resolved. Talk about the positive side of the hobby and leave the negativity at the door…it get’s old.
Enjoy the joker and the cowboy artwork and stop talking about these recasts….you are only giving this Q guy POWER because you keep talking about it…and I’m sure he is watching and laughing at how the attention is back on him again rather than anything else.

Actually...NO. The more people educated by it, the less he'll have clients who purchase and not know they're recast.
I've seen many statements people have said that they didnt know that what they bought was recasted, and that they wont fall for it again.
A big reason it gets talked about a lot is for more people to be aware.

I bought a couple recasts...A Narin long before I knew about the notorious Thai recaster, and a WW from a board member. It wasn't mentioned and I didn't ask but its obvious by the seam on the WW its a recast. So, am I going to throw it away? Probably not. I'll do something with it. I've learned the difference and infact I am in the process of buying an original TG from another boardie.
I don't think recasting will ever stop, but maybe originals can be signed by the artist so if you're going to spend big bucks on a sculpt at least you'll know if its an original or not.
Conterfeiting is big business all over the world and unfortunately head sculpts aren't immune to it.

Am I to take it from you dropping my name you believe I have recasted heads in my collection? I have purchased from Q once, he duped me when he came back under the disguise CHAPIN. Fairly well known I believe as I have told the story in more than one thread here on the site. I argued with him via a paypal dispute in an attempt to get my money back but sadly failed so what did I do with the 2 recasted heads he sold me? I gave them to a friend of mine to practice painting on, neither are on display in my collection and both have been replaced by the genuine article purchased from reputable sellers on this very forum.

If you want to drop MY name along side insinuations and misinformation at least have the ***** to do it under your own screename don't set up a ghost account lol. Stand by your beliefs and say your piece least then I can know exactly who you are while I prove you wrong....


EDIT: Would appear I read it wrong and reponded in a fit of rage before rereading. So your claiming there are people on this site who have recasted heads painted by the top guys and people like myself and mike (PCK) have stated our appreciation for their displays without the knowledge some of the heads are recast? Have I got that right?
