Rainman wishlist thread

Who cares? He does what he wants to do and let's just let him do that. This thread was always a more "you know it would be cool if Rainman made this" thread.

If you guys want to organize a specific thread for a specific character, no one is stopping you.

Honestly, just leave the thread as what it was.

Do you realise that a major number of previous releases Rainman has done has been SUGGESTED to him by members here. Plus when he talked to me he said, if their is enough interest he WILL MAKE THE CHARACTER.
Obviously he will do whatever he wants, and he does whatever he wants from the bunch of stuff that is SUGGESTED TO HIM.

No one here is asking about specific thread for SPECIFIC Characters. Some of us just maybe like the idea of this thread actually ending to be fruitful instead of serving as a collage of pics specially since its called 'Rainman Wishlist Thread' not 'Throw random pics from Simpsons to Oprah'.

Nothing radical will be changed from this thread. But yeah, maybe its my fault for wanting guys to organize wants and focus on the most popular names being thrown here so that we can actually HAVE the potential ones to be made. Specially keeping in mind the recent unfortunate fiasco about popular characters and personal commissions.

I dont see why you have to be so whatever and just dismiss it off so lightly? Or maybe you are just pissed as too many words hurt your eyes... which you comprehended only as blah blah blah

How i'm seing this thread now is almost the same as all the hot toys wishlist thread.

It's almost like if rainman has become a brand.

I liked before when he showed figure and nobody was expecting it, it was exciting. Not so much now.

I agree with Elvis, really. Rainman is like a brand in many ways, and it would be more exciting to me if Rainman really just came with off the wall stuff that you wouldn't necessarily expect. But alas. . .

So what we need is focused wants, and we already have the best people to convey them to the artist.

So long as the mods of the custom section and admin don't have an issue with it, you may want to do that as a separate thread, but I don't think this thread should be co-opted for that purpose. A "wishlist" is just that. Not an attempt to dictate what will be made.

But to take an example of how this kind of thread could work, and I'm not trying to take any credit for this by the way, but I don't recall any Pee Wee conversations before I threw it up as a kind of wishful, off the wall idea on the order of what we would bring up in this thread. Magnus started running with it at some point, and now it is becoming a reality, but if you were restricted to thinking about "serious" projects that would really only appeal to large groups of folks like Bickle, then I'm not sure Pee-Wee would have necessarily come out of that conversation.

There's a fair amount of hostility around the Rainman threads in my humble observations. In large part, this seems due to the man allowing so much input, and there are unintended consequences to that in many ways. By intentionally keeping itself out of the politics, this place can be a little island of joy! We can talk about the things we would like to see and love about Rainman's figures, without all the nastiness.

Exactly my point, so why not make something more focused and uncluttered for the artist? The only people it will benefit is people like us, who want to get figures made

However for those who really dont want to drop the serious amt of money but only like to post pics of characters and maybe some :rock1: and :yess: smileys when a figure is made but not even buy it, I can see why the idea doesnt really affect you.

Rainman's creations have a LOT of fan input, one of the reasons why he is so well respected and has such a strong fanbase. My idea will appeal to only serious guys who want to see their favourite character made as well as want to buy it.

I have been pushing for a Bateman for a very long time, from the time Dude was made to now. Rainman always told me that if there is enough serious demand he will make it. That exactly shows what his attitude is towards making it. Im just asking those interested to you know help ourselves and him by actually showing the artists what serious demands are from time to time.

I've gotta say that your post comes across as a bit condescending. I'm a Rainman fan. I own his pieces. And I would love to see him make my favorite characters. Seems to me that most of the folks that post frequently in this thread are guys who own multiple Rainman pieces, as well, so I'm not sure what you are referring to in terms of folks being here who have no intention of buying what Rainman produces.

But I personally do not want to push him into doing this or that. I will vote if someone puts up a poll, but I'm not gonna be too actively involved in trying to get my message across to the man beyond posting in a thread here or there and maybe changing an avatar from time to time. I don't want to think of Rainman as a customizer for commission who is just out to give the collector-fans what they want. I'm not judging anyone else here who may think or act that way--that is, after all, how folks have been able to make their grails a reality, and I've benefited from the poll that the Dude won since it is one of my most cherished figures--but personally, that's not my point of view and I don't think it is an illegitimate one.

Clearly, you don't like what this thread stands for and is doing. That's cool. But it is what it is--a wishlist thread. If you have an idea for channeling forum consensus into a short list that can be voted on and transmitted to Rainman's ear via some of his forum contacts or something, then that's cool too, but again, that's not what this thread is for. It was not intended to be that. Other threads (with polls) may have had that intention.

Something tells me if Rainman doesn't make another figure I like for another year there will be plenty other sculptors who are making things I will buy.

I never saw Taxi Driver until I joined this thread and kept seeing people wanting a Bickle. FInally sat down and watched it and loved it. Now I want a Bickle. IMO Bateman can wait only because HT has a pretty good headsculpt of Bale and I just wouldn't be as excited to see another bale headsculpt as I would a young Deniro w/ mohawk.

That's a good point, as well. Bickle's probably been posted here 50 times. He's clearly a huge favorite.

I have a Kai Travis, it's pretty damn good. Having said that, I'd still have a hard time passing up RM's. I bet the blank unpainted heads would sell like hot cakes too.

That Bateman blood soaked expression would certainly make a great DX option imo.

Neutral would be my preferred option for the fullset with that DX option
