I'll put you both down tentatively for a sand base. :rock Just FYI though, I haven't fully hashed out exactly how I'll do it yet or the price but as soon as I do I'll post the details here.
It's 9" x 6 1/4" at it's widest and deepest.

No, he's not fixed in any way. I'm not sure how you'd secure R2 to a base without out it looking odd.

I think I've got the sand base worked out. Hopefully you guys will like it. It sort of mimics the look of HT's sand base. Pics tomorrow night.

Gotcha on the list, karl. UK post is no problem.
I've just about got it done. Just playing with a few variations. I gotta say, I think it looks great. In fact I plan on making some square ones for Ben and Luke and whatever other figures I want to put on them.
Price will be an extra $10 I think. I'm trying to make these as affordable as possible.

It might need a bit more texture but it is suppose to be 1/6 sand.

Looks awesome fella , it looks great now but maybe with a few ripples in it and not so smooth it could look even better.
Either way I am happy.
