Got you down. Just remember, the 1/6 version is my focus right now. 1/4 scale and pricing will come a little later.


Also, if everyone could start thinking about what they'll be wanting in addition to the launcher. I am going to post the weapons and other accessories I will be desiging and I will start to modify the first post with additional lists, information, etc. It seems most people feel I should just keep everything in this thread rather than start a new one, so that's what I will be doing.

Weapons that I am for sure doing in 1:4 scale (and possible 1:10, though not 1:6 as they already exist):
- Colt Commando AR15
- AR-18 with double ammo clip taped together
- SPAS-12 shotgun with foldable stock

Accessories I would like to do depending on interest in 1:10 and/or 1:6 and/or 1:4:
- Industrial machine start/stop thing (the smalle rectangular box with buttons)
- Metal dolly
- Explosive barrel
- Iron rebar piece (the piece shoved through his shoulder)

Thanks for seriously thinking about my suggestions. Those are pieces I'd love to have as accessories and set-dressings so that my collection is more than just figures standing on a shelf.

Awesome, I will get you on the new lists when I modify the front page. Trying to decide whether to change up the title/front page now or wait until the 1/6 MM1 is mostly complete.

No problem. If I can produce them cheaply enough lower numbers of interested parties aren't much of a concern. Smaller things like the control box should be relatively inexpensive. Other things, like the dolly, might be a bit tougher to keep super cheap but, could always be done as more commission or one off things. When you stated those "wants" you were referring mostly to 1:10 scale, correct? I have some ideas for the dolly but scaling makes a difference to where I go with actual execution of said ideas.


By the way, if anyone else has any accessory suggestions let me know. I think we have an awesome start right now btu i'm an open book. I have some 3D modeling ideas that might see me able to make a SPAS-12 that not only has a foldable stock, but that has actual pump action as well... if I can keep it a bit less expensive, could be awesome!

Ok guys I have anotehr update with what I think is some great news. I have heard back from a different caster who feels he can mold and cast for us pretty darn easily. AND he can do it in black! Only downside is it requires a few changes to my 3D model. Essentially, the model is currently broken down in to two main pieces, but he needs it in 3. The seams between the pieces will be extremely difficult to notice, and it will result in a very robust and strong model, so don't worry about fragility like many of you noted with the Commando version.

The real downside is this puts a small delay on things as I have to redesign a few things (that part should actually be very quick). I cancelled my original print order today and will be redesigning tonight and tomorrow. One small hiccup but in the end I think we'll have an AWESOME launcher.

i've been watching this thread for some time since a-dev showed it to me (thank you a-dev), but didn't know if i need a second one... but now it sounds even more interesting.
is there an approximate expected price for this launcer?...

Yeh man Neca announced it not long ago. Probably due to the upcoming T2 3D so they've decided to release 1/4 scale of T2 terminator at this time.

Seriously, I'm surprised how easy it was to convert the model to three main pieces. Now I am just anxious hoping the caster says my decision was ok for casting... we'll see! In case anyone is curious about what the pieces are, see below. As you can see these splits are in areas where you will never even see them, AND, they won't infect the strength of the final piece at all.

you're in USA so shipping to me might be another $20-30.
the construction you're showing above allows making a spinning grenade drum, is it worth thinking about?
just add an axis to the first part, a hole with a tube in the second part - and the axis goes into the third.
will there be paint or just plain black material?

Yes, unfortunately shipping is what it is:gah:

I considered a spinning drum, but it really would increase cost quite a bit. You are right, it certainly is simple to execute conceptually, but it makes casting much more difficult which in turn increases cost. HOWEVER, making it spin is something that could actually be accomplished AFTER casting. It is certainly something I could look into!

With regards to paint, I haven't decided yet. Painting will increase cost a tad, but there shouldn't be a TON of painting to do if they are cast in black. More so weathering than anything else, I guess.

By the way, I already heard back from the caster... very quick this time... he seems to think the way I have split it will allow for a pretty easy cast. I am excited!

One downside, though... he says the limit is 20 casts before the molds break down. SO... 2 spots left in 1:6th right now. Did you want me to add you, P.? Let me know. I will add on a runoff list in case people who are on the initial list don't pay or drop out.

i think i'd like to be added to the list then. i don't think it will be made soon enough. if i put away $10 each week, in two months i'll have money for both the launcher and any possible shipping.

and yes, i meant adding the spinning mechanism later, after casting those 3 details. only if it is considered to be done, two holes should already be there - in parts 2 and 3 (from the left).

i asked about painting because i'm no painter and don't know even how to weather guns so they would look naturally.

BTW, since a lot of this is waiting now (I will be getting the master print followed by some cleaning and then off to the caster) I will start modeling the next weapons. Up first will be the SPAS-12 in 1/4 scale. Great thing is now that I have contacts with a great, reasonably priced caster, we should be able to get the upcoming weapons and accessories very quickly and at reasonable prices. Exciting stuff:yess:

This is all looking and sounding really cool. If it could have the spinning drum that would obviously push it beyond Commando's and make it an even more worthwhile purchase.

As far as the other stuff I suggested, if you're doing interest lists for those put me on there. So far I just see the control box for the chains in the first post.

I'll put my preferences like this:

control box - 1:10 & 1:6
dolly cart - 1:10
Explosive barrel - 1:10
Iron bar (used by T-1000 to impale T-800) - 1:10

The dolly cart and explosive barrel would also tempt me at 1:6 if other people were to jump on board with those.

I will see what I can do about the spinning barrel. If it's not terribly difficult to do post-cast I'll consider it, otherwise it will stay as is.

Regarding the other accessories, I was just starting to update the thread while I was at work. I just didn't get to some of the other stuff you mentioned. It will all be added.
