Whiplash was shot within 24 days on a budget of $3.3 million. In one scene, Teller’s character tackles Simmons’s to the ground which caused him to suffer two broken ribs.
I actually find it very confusing that there is virtually no interest for this character. It was an Oscar winning performance/character that I believe is on the same level as other villains, such as, Chigurh and Landa. The small hints throughout the film that Fletcher is the one helping Niemann to become an elite drummer is genius (missing folder scene).
