Alright all of you Supernatural knuckle heads, we have a question for you and we are starting a new thread to go with it. Many of you have talked for years about wanting a 1:6 Impalla prop, and we have a few ideas if you guys are interested to keep this reasonably cheap.

What we need to know is your preference and interest level.

We have two ideas here:

1) a back-of-the-car opening trunk dio with working light-up tail lights with secret stash storage compartments.

or

2) 1:6 full Impalla: What if we made an Impalla car frame to go over an existing 1:6 RC car (to give it a base more than to make it an RC) and keep it cheap? We would still make an opening trunk, but then you'd have a nice Impalla prop for your shelves for your ultimate SUPERNATURAL set?

The interior would be whatever the RC car has so won't be accurate, but the intent here is to give you guys something cheap and affordable?

I have no idea on cost but I'd guess less than $150-$175 (not including RC car base)?

Thoughts? Ideas? Interest?

Let us know! Thanks!

PS- This is definitely a 2013 project, FYI.

I think that the entire Impala is best since it is like a character in itself. sam and dean are nothing withouth the impala. the trunk would be great for posing for pics but thats all it's good for so offering both would be great . the trunk for dio purpose and full car for great shots and feeling of a completed set for us fans.

We are discussing all of this a lot here behind the scenes. This is kind of an end of the year project but we are planning it heavily now. We are trying to keep this cheaper than a fully made complete car, yet dammit, we want all the goodies we can in this! (laugh).

I think we all agree the doors and particularly the trunk NEED to open. Just for cool figure posing. If the Trunk opens, we need to be able to store stuff in there. Getting the headlights to light up won't be difficult at all.
I don't know if we want to worry about working tail lights.

Our next step is researching existing 1:6 RC vehicles and going to Walmart and RC shops hobby shops to see whats available for existing chasis to fit this on, or how much it would be just to buy existing tires, parts, if we had to make our own to be truer in size. As we learn stuff we will share it here for you for us to talk about. We LOVE your enthusiasm!!!

My WGP partner and co-founder Sean is a big BTTF fan, so a Delorean is planned by us after we make this, as well as WGP heads. Consider this the test run because the Delorian is more complicated (laugh).

don't forget the glove box it gets used as well it was the colts hiding spot,(awsome bonus piece if colt came with impala) box of mixed tapes of course. use wool felt for interior of trunk.

If i were to buy any 1/6th scale vehicles it would be this one. email me guys when it's available. do you guys know if car spray paint will have mettal effect on your plastic?

I'd love to own a fully done Impala. Just one question, why RC chassis? Wouldn't it be easier to make your own so that it perfectly fits the shell? It would be awesome if its show accurate interior and out.

i feel the same or they can make a cast of a comparable base and make the bottom piece and then just sculpt and cast it. and boom a car.

The ides for using an RC car chasis was just to keep the price lower than a Hot Toys car. I haven't seen any other cars that scale available that's not an R/C, but then I am not really a car nerd, so who knows?

WGP could make a perfect 1:6 replica from scratch but the cost to pay the sculptor, then print, mold, and cast it would easily put something custom made like this over $1000 each. :horror

I agree, and you can save on the sculpting charges by having it digitally rendered and a cast printed out by shapeways. I know guys who would do it for a reasonable price, and make it as accurate as possible.

Honestly i don't mind if you can find a lower half from another car as long as interior, and trunk looks decent and of course the engine needs to be visible since dean is always tinkering with that car. if you guys did a version of a flex pay peoeple would totally jump on this car.
