Here's the completed 3D model of the idol. I tried to do everything I could to hit every little detail. Lots of research on The RPF. There are, I believe, 3 different idols used in the film. Interestingly the idols can be very different. For example one version has a very prominent "frown", with the corners of the mouth pulled way down and a significant downward indent in the shape of the upper lip. We're going for the "hero" idol with the glass eyes as pictured in the comparison shot.
What I decided to do was sculpt the sockets deeper and then I inserted spheres. However, I set the spheres back a ways. The idea will be to paint on the colored eyes, which are actually brown and white, and then top coat with resin. This will give a 3D, glass eye type look... something we haven't seen in any 1/6 scale version of the idol.
