Wow, love that pic Cicada17!!! :clap

Also, I was able to take a couple more pics today. Thanks to those that commented and def recommend darkening the whiskers and eyebrows if you prefer that look. JNIX's Indy & Han sculpts are freaking amazing and so glad to have them in the collection.

Out of the box:

After darkening the facial hair and hitting the mouth with a skin tone wash and dusting the hat with some pastels:

Nice Indy's from everyone.

That hat looks pretty damn good. Looks good with the darkened bits too. Nice.

Looks good, what did you do with the yunsil
Holster?, looks more leathery.
its
Not the yunsil holster this is the raveneye holster, I dipped it in hot water which shrunk it down and left the color more like that. Also raveneye's holster is real leather.

Terrific work Deathasylum! I'm almost inspired to try it myself!

This sculpt is a big step up from the MJ Choi one to be honest, which itself was a big step up from my repaint of the stock SSC Grove sculpt. And that's no small task. Thanks JNIX! No chance to take nice pics yet, but if/when I can I'll post.

Thanks gents and enjoy your new sculpts! And thanks again to JNIX for making this happen :duff

Want ! if anyone planning on letting go. Plz pm me.

Mj choi is still king. Hands down.

But this is good. Needs some paint tweaking. I darkened the beard and eyebrows a tad and dull coated. Pretty solid overall. Imo both of these are the best of the ANH recasts

Jnix needs to retire that sculpt... it’s getting a bit distorted looking after all the reworks. Would love to see his take on a new Ford.

Agree, also MJ painting skill is still the best to me, the sad is over size...
this is good too, just the eye ball..seems need to adjust a bit.....

The Choi looks amazing up close, but from a distance the size and expression just don't work nearly as well for me. And the Inigo V2 has a good likeness but the head just looks way too angular somehow.

This one has its issues as well, but I like that it's got the rounder face and seems to work pretty well from a distance.

Yup I would agree with both of those comments. the MJ size was an issue from the beginning and his paint skill is unparalleled. Especially the eyes, there more realism there. But I did recall having to darken the hair and eyebrows on his sculpt too.

Also the issue with his hat was that it was too small/short.

So in short the ultimate Indy still has not been made. I like adding both this and the hatless portrait and also plans to have the iniguo smiling one as an option. We shall see how that looks painted, the one I saw panted so far I was a bit disappointed with and its from one of the beast painters ever so my hopes are not super high.

Isn't it fascinating that after so many years and attemps by some of the best sculptors in the business we are still looking for that? I know by now that Harrison Ford likeness is hard to capture, but we've seen sculptors nailing characters that are not easy either on the first or second try (thinking about the MJ McClane or the HT Jim Gordon, which are examples of almost perfect likeness on my collection).

As we seem to be running out of options, I'm still hoping for Vimal to give it a try to Indy at some point in the future.

I sort of agree about the inigo smiling sculpt, but I think we need to (unfortunately) keep waiting to see some other paint ups.

Its so true.

I may get a bit of flack for this, and Jnix is one of my favorite sculptors but I truly believe that the sculpt that this head was based on was one of (actually THE) best ANH Harrison likenesses only. Meaning it only worked for him at that age/weight/skin color and type/ hair shape/expression/way the film was lit etc.

proves that likenesses are NOT a one size fits all solution even with alteration, there's so much more that goes into a character. And Indy is a very specific character even though many of Fords characters are inherently Ford, Indy seems as a character, to be the most multi-dimentional somehow. Which explains why a lot of sculptors struggle with nailing him.

Everything else was downhill after that sculpt was attempted to be altered. The indy hated being the best as it removed the obstacle of having the hair sculpted in a different way than the original intent of the portrait, resulting on something that looked plopped on, or more like a wig or two sculpts mashed (which is what Deckard and especially Bespin Han looked like)

The hatless one here, I will say, did turn out better than I was expecting. As a straight hair alteration it's the most successful of the bunch.

Also I never had a hatless Indy..)I mean obviously we don't count or even THINK about the Hot toys one in a general way, so its not like that counts) So I'm excited about that.

Though I do wish Jnix didn't glue the hat on mine like I emailed to ask him about. I was eager to try other hats on it, and also to have the hat loose for when I chose to display him hatless.

Jnix has done a fantastic job with a young Ford. I like it but...I'm just curious about the expression that he chose.

I have both the MJ and Jnix sculpts and love them both but would never say no to someone having another crack at him he is definitely the greatest movie hero of all time in my opinion.
Maybe Balloonman should give it a whirl his last two sculpts have been home runs!
