[MJ12] 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Headsculpt

somehow, no one seem to have gotten health's portrayal of Joker yet except for adam, he came the closest, which surprises me, does he have a third eye that other sculptors don't have or are they staying away from sculpting round cheeks and thick neck like adam does to differentiate themselves? Always wondered...MJ's is real damn close though, all painted up looks boss!

I personally think MJ's is the best Heath likeness so far. I like it better than Bobby's and Adam's! Adam's as good looking as it is has some things off with it as well. Like the hair doesn't look long enough, has what looks like a 5 head, but I guess this never gets question or critiqued because it's $2k HS so it must be the right!

Now MJ's sculpt looks off when you add in the hair extension, but without it and if you were to ad in a bit of real hair like Adam's this could make the sculpt even better!

I know I'm in the minority here but just glad I'm getting one!

i dont think its fair to compare the 2 sculpts, Adam's sculpt is the Joker, while MJ's is Heath Ledger as Joker.
there's a difference between sculpting Heath and then adding the scars to sculpting the joker directly. if you know what i'm saying.

I don't see it from that angle, nose is completely different

don't see it either actually. Best Heath likeness by far to me, and lord knows theres been enough attempts at it. Ill be satisfied with this one as the be all- end all.

it's the vibe it get, maybe it's the chin or the distance between the eyes, it's kinda hard to explain, you'll see when you have it in hand.
He looks like Heath on both sides, just the front looks a bit like aaron...

Mike, can you share use yours after painting on dx11? I might consider to get on Mob w/out hair ext.

Adams sculpt looks more like Ledger than any other sculpt I've seen hands down. Its been said so much thats its a cliche now but his is the best out there. I've heard complaints that it even looks too much like Heath and not enough Joker, but not the other way around. If you get what I'm saying...

Heath & Aaron are look alike somehow.....not only by this HS but also reality. The nose is definitely make them different and Heath hair is curlier.

i have the sculpt in hand, it kinda looks like aaron eckhart from the front.

After reading the comparison between Adam and "MJ", my opinion is Adam HS is so much look alive (does not necessarily accurate on the face) compare to others including Bobby or "MJ" himself. Perhaps people impression, appreciation and proud differ from each other when having each of them. Some of us find 2K and plus HS will not be worth it to have while others considered them as a fine art and that feeling driving their mind to superior on the likeness of Heath Ledger on Adam's work.
On the other hand, I will be honest to myself what I will not pay for such money even tough I admit Adam's work is might be the best out there but as Mike said, somehow it is off. Look at Maddame Tussaud's museum which I think even some of 1:1 wax actor/actress might not accurate as the real person but I believe it has "unlimited" price if somebody wanna buy it because it is considered as FINE ART by FINE ARTIST.
So, my point is it will be not wise enough to argue between Adam and MJ because from the price itself explained and we know Adam is considered as a FINE artist while MJ does not appear on the page as the "author" but Axe did.
MJ's sculpt enough driving me crazy and giving me bad sleep, I know I really want this HS bad. On the other hand, doubt on the leap of faith because nobody has the painted sculpt yet on their hands. From the pictures, MJ did a great sculpt on representing Heath and Joker. Do not mind on dx11 because they are outta the league now. Apologize if I have unpleasant words on this threat, just my personal thought.

SO, now my question is: which one should I choose? MOB with ext or w/out as I noticed more of you chose w/out and thanks to "TheFiend" picture before, without is more bossy and Heath Ledger indeed!

The price or how rare it is has nothing to do with why the majority prefer Adams or the fact that no body questions the hair style, since that is not as important as capturing Ledger's facial features. Adam is the only one that can capture the core likeness of Ledger and since people are amazed by that they don't even think to question if the hair style is accurate, well... I know I don't. Bobby's sculpt was originally more expensive than Adam's then when Adam sculpted the Kato Joker sculpt his prices went from in the hundreds to in the thousands because that is what people are willing to pay to have the perfect Heath Ledger Joker sculpt and felt that Adam's one was more accurate than Bobbys 1k sculpt.

IMO it is the other way around, since Adam sculpts Heath first before adding the scars to become the Joker.

Yeah neither had I until now, I think most people think Adam's sculpt looks too much like Heath and not enough like the Joker because of the blank expression, whereas Heath as the Joker pulled a lot of weird expressions which made him look somewhat different. I honestly don't see how people can think MJ's sculpt is the most accurate especially since the eyes are totally off as they are just too small and an odd shape.

Imo this is not a great likeness,it's ok but not on Adams level,but really Adam is in a class by himself.i think this looks good from certain angles,but then again so did hot toys slicked hair bank robber sculpt and there cop attempt.from straight on the slicked hair bank robber sculpt looks dead on to the pic they used as reference(the shot of heath clapping)but from other angles you can see what is off.a major peeve of mine with this and most of the ht sculpts is they use a pic of the joker as a reference.by doing this they add lines into the sculpt that are technically only in the paint.you can really notice this in the scars of mj 12s sculpt.anyway I painted one of mine up like the mob scene.im going to attempt to add some real hair,not sure how that's gonna look on this but I'm gonna try it anyway

Fantastic paint up Steve! It almost looks like a more detailed or older dx01 sculpt or bank robber. Still, a great sculpt and congrats to you that have it..

Hmm, I guess now we know, maybe next time they can sculpt health first and then transform it into the joker. That will draw in a better likeness hopefully.

Despite so many paint jobs being referred to as 'mob scene' paint, this is probably the first time I've seen it truly attempted. The gigantic black of the eyes in the mob scene is so distinctive, it somehow shows the sculpt's inaccuracies. I'm not doing a side by side comparison, but the paint job looks very accurate, in terms of the eye black in that scene. And yet on the sculpt, it just looks... odd.

Final Prototypes almost complete... Expect pictures middle of next week, as well as email updates.

Here is a teaser of the whole process it takes. Its very very long and painstaking, almost 3 days for one sculpt to be painted.

I was looking at the pics and was wondering if it's possible for the painter to paint the base hair dirty/rusty blonde, instead of dark brown / black like in the pic? I think it'll really help to make the sculpt looks more accurate, giving the semi bald, scalpy look like Adam's:

Agree completely. Once you remove all the paint it really does look just like Ledger. I've yet to see another sculptor capture that aspect the way Adam does. And something that seems to get overlooked a lot (or isn't brought up as much)when discussions about Adam come up are his painting abilities. The dude is one of the best painters out there on top of being an amazing sculptor. And I know everybody says this about everything, but seeing Adams work in person really is a sight to behold. Easily the most realistic work I own. The way he brings it all together is pretty phenomenal.
