Re: Prequel Queen Portman full figure info now available by Sean Dabbs

We have heard some feedback from a few people that would like to see a thinner material used on this. I can see that.
How would everybody here feel about that? Would it make some more interested in getting the set, and would the ones who already want it be happy with that? let me know everyone!

Re: Prequel Queen Portman full figure- question for customers.

I agree a thinner material might be better. If possible, it might help to see samples of the options?

Re: Prequel Queen Portman full figure- question for customers.

Yes, 100% agreed with thinner material!! I hope to see the finalized custome, with accurate cutting. Many thanks!! I am still interested

Re: Prequel Queen Portman full figure- question for customers.

Thanks guys! We really do listen! I will ask Tinela about it then. :)

The paintjob is great!!

Is costume "shoulder pad" redesigned and made accurate yet? Any pics are welcome! :)

Re: Prequel queen portman by sean dabbs

The collar you mean? No. Sean just sculpts parts of the costume to help him see the likeness as he's sculpting.

Alright, hate to do backsies buy I guess we won't be lighting the bottom dewdrops up because I was kindly contacted by a friend and 1:6 LED professional who told me unless the LED's being used are attached to something sturdy, it is just asking for lots of problems doing them in something like a dress because the soldering connections will be so brittle and easy to break, so it's safer not doing that. Sorry.

Doesn't seem that hard. Depending on how you plan to make the "dew drops". Fastening each board to each drop would be the most difficult part. Running the wires through the board and soldered on the opposite side will relieve any stress. Hears an example of a parallel setup. An added bonus (not that the boards weight a lot but...) the weight would help weigh down the dress for better droop.

Re: Prequel queen portman by sean dabbs

Hey everyone, update time!

Sean heard back from Tinella who HAS gone ahead and made a new version of the robe using thinner material. Sean and I haven't even gotten to see it yet. She says she will takes pics once of it she receives a head so people can really gauge how the new costume looks thickness wise.

I want to take pics of the printed out dewdrop proto I have on hand this week to show how the back separates off of them for all of you planning on lighting them up, just so you can see.

Sean is sending enlarged dew drops to the caster because we thought they could be a little bigger, and the smaller hands are being made a bit larger too to account for molding shrinkage. If they were to be molded as is, they would look like Mego hands! (joking)

I am going to hear back this week from the molder/caster for an ETA on when we will be getting the individual Amidala heads in to start selling, to send off Tinela hers, and send the lot of 10 for the full figure run off to Mark Simpson to begin painting. I can hear him crying now! LOL.

My time here on SSF is intermittent because my work completely blocks me from SSF and my old work-around doesn't work anymore, and my home comp is dead. I can talk through Facebook just fine however when someone wants to give me a shout.

I want to post another update and pics of the the two dewdrops separated this weekend.
Talk to ya then!
-Rick :)

Re: Prequel Queen Portman full figure- question for customers.

Hi,I ordered this set by Rick on FCB(ID:max ma).could you add me to the list please? And I really want to suggest that the sculpt looks a little bit "too mature" than Portman shows in movie at that age.her face looks more tiny and younger on screen I guess. But just suggestion, still love this amazing work.thanks!

Hi maxxyron, with all due respect, I think the sculpt and paintjob looks it quite close to the Queen who is concerned about the Trade Federation blockade and invasion. I also added myself to the list.
