I'll ask Beastmaster about that.

It's mainly because Apple doesn't officially support Blu-Ray. Apparently there is an solution I'm pursuing, namely some drives can read 4K discs unofficially.

Yes, though, that is the scene. I can tell he has on black ankle boots of some sort, and can make out the heel height, but I see ambiguous signs relative to a toe cap being present and the exact nature of the closure. It almost looks like there is an oversized button.

I wanted the 4K Blu-Ray for maximum image quality. I've not downloaded a digital only copy, but imagine it must be compressed somewhat.

In reality, no 4K TV is actually 4K. They're all UHD. Only the cinema is true 4k. However, the difference between 4k and UHD is small, so TV manufacturers market it as 4k to consumers.

And no, that is not correct, the UHD download won't be any different from the 4K blu-ray. That would defeat the point.

So, if you have a 5k iMac like me, download the UHD and you're good to go. Saves all the hassle you're putting yourself through.

According to this Amazon does not allow you download a physical UHD copy to your computer, so it will be a compressed, streaming copy:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201460880

I'm skeptical that a UHD stream can achieve the same bitrate as as UHD Blu-Ray on even a high-level consummer internet connection.

The basically unanimous opinion is that the discs are better, and more importantly, multiple comparisons noted that the superiority shows in dark scenes, which is exactly where I'm trying to get this image from.

I'm not that into A/V parameters (my TV is from 2008). I do love clothing design and am just doing this to create the best figure possible, especially with such a high-quality version already existing.

The Blu-Ray comes with the UHD download, so no need for drivers there either, or streaming.

Anyway, I'm not here to argue or debate with you because life is far too short. I was just trying to give you some advise from my own experience and help with your quest. I'll bow out of this conversation.

The 4K Blu-Ray does not come with a UHD download, just a regular HD copy.

Put me as interested pending details and final prices.

The model kit likely took from reference photos.

Wow! I have never seen that model in all my years and image searches.

That is exactly the style of two-tone boot I suggested to Beastmaster as a possibility last week based on suggestive images from the normal BluRay. I want to use the 4K Blu-Ray to try and confirm it.

They're not two-tone but spats: a cloth covering over the top of the boots.

Very popular with Victorians and gangsters :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spats_(footwear)

Actually, I don't think they were spats.

Both spats and integrated designs existed simultaneously.

Ishioka would have gone in my opinion with the most refined look, which is the integrated form rather than the spats.

I just got my 4K drive and watched the scene. I can definitely see the side buttons now.

I do not see any sign of a side strap that a spat would have (I don't see them in that model either). Also the side profile appears to be perfectly smooth, a spat would of course have to sit on top of the boot, even if very thin.

I saw that Carlos from "The Laboratory Fx" who made my old Vlad head...is making a young Vlad head.

Carlos is a master, but I personally don't like that. To me it looks overpainted and I prefer the Rainman Aeon paint. Still a great looking paint though, just not my taste.

His young Dracula looks interesting. Could be a really good alternative.

Will in head only!

Well, I would have preferred this topic not be brought up in this thread, but since a conversation is underway...

I admire Carlos' technical ability, but i do not like his style for the exact reason Mighty Thor stated. I think Maximus Miniatures will deliver a superb result.

When Beastmaster asked Carlos in January, the price for the Victorian Dracula was €492 (US$610 as of today) for the painted and haired head plus hat alone. That may or may not include shipping. You'd have to pay another roughly $150 + shipping for Full Metal's pince-nez. That's at least $750 to just to get the head set.

Also Full Metal did not size his pince-nez to match Carlos' head, which is why we went with Robbie the Painter.

Beastmaster and I are trying to keep the entire finished figure under $1,000. And that's with Iris as the seamstress.

I estimate your cost with Carlos and the à la carte options available being $1,475 -- that's before painting any hands, shoes, etc.

It's good (although I understand why it irritates you) to discuss what alternatives are out there. I don't think Kris_Santa posted that to derail the thread or annoy you, but now you have shared some behind-the-scenes information, perhaps people that might've been waiting for the other versions from Carlos and GeeWhiz can now see the estimated price difference you state. I'm likely going to get all versions, but like it when people share, so I can make informed decisions.
